I would HATE to know the doctors name, it takes away from the allure of the character. I don't think Moffett wants to invest too much time in the Time War history (it still feels like a Russel T Davies subject). Also knowing his name isn't as relevant to what he's done. That statement makes your number 2 comment stronger.

For #2, Smith is signed on until 2014, so unless that means they do another End of Time finale for Smith then I don't see the Fall of the Doctor playing out until Series 8 maybe. But I think that begs a bigger question, WHO is behind the silence?

Honestly, yeah...I don't think they will ever actually reveal his name. It would ruin too much of the character, like you said. I wondered how long his contract was; I wouldn't be surprised if, despite it being said in the same breath by Dorium, that the fields of Trenzalore and the fall of the eleventh are two completely separate events.

I have to admit though the thought that it might be true is making me pay attention to every little detail. Really liking the Doctors sudden aggressive streak too. Maybe it will have some importance by the end of the series?

During the scene where the doctor faced off against the kid there was a beat of 4 knocks. It may of been a coincidence in that situation but it was easily picked up.

Also, unless i'm crazy, the faceoff the next day - the clock didn't strike noon, I think it was set on 11 and stuck on 12. And the bell sounded just like the tardis cloister bells

I think the lightbulbs and to a much lesser extent eggs will be a recurring theme until episode 5 or maybe even the last episode of the season.

• The lightbulbs in Amy's mirror at her photo shoot
• The lightbulb being changed by Rory and his dad but still wasn't fixed at the end of the episode
• The lightbulbs in Mercy

The lightbulb thing seems to be like the cracks in Amy's bedroom. Something is directly or indirectly causing them to flicker around The Doctor and his companions. You can look at it as something that hasn't happened yet to be causing this effect (Angels messing with Amy and Rory's timeline or a foe later on down the road), or it could be The Doctor slowly being erased based on his current actions.

Also the egg thing is very far off but it's subtle

• Eggs-terminate
• Dino Eggs
• Egg shaped space ship.

Also possibly a continuity mistake, but when The Doctor uncovered the spaceship he took the cloth off. When Jex went back at the end of the episode, the cloth was back on the space ship....

GDI lol. I hate doctor who sometimes just because shit like this never dawns on me. We know episode 5 is gonna have the Angels in and what happens when the angles are around? The lights, of course.

Just been and watched back the scene with the kid too. Didn't notice the drum beat first (or second time for that matter, watched it twice lol) but yeah it is pretty noticeable. I can't help wonder that we're all gonna get trolled by Moffat though and the conclusion has nothing whatsoever to do with all the speculation.

In addition to our lightbulb issue, has anyone noticed that the title sequence is getting darker and darker with each episode? It's pretty crazy and I bet the 5th episodes title sequence is going to be all dark with just the tardis lights and the cast

Also after thinking about things (it's late and I'm bored), I really want to see how Amy and Rory react to the doctor when he first shows up in the 5th episode. If the Doctor shows up and Amy and Rory are like "Hey we haven't seen you since the whole incident where you faked your death" and a large chunk of time has lapsed, then something big is going on. If this is the case, then that would mean that we are watching things in reverse for The Doctor, but forwards for the Ponds. By this I mean that from The Doctors perspective, Episode 5 happened first, and then after the "heartbreaking loss" he decides to go back into their lives at different points to spend more time with them because he neglected hanging out with them for so long and on his first visit in a long time he is unable to protect them from the angels.

In "A Town Called Mercy" the Doctor said he was over 1200 years old (I know, I know, The Doctor Lies). In Impossible Astronaut, his older self after running away from his problems and then inviting everyone to witness his death was 1103. So basically he is going back and inserting himself into their lives before the events of Episode 5 which he's already witnessed. In these past episodes, The Doctor seems very much like a different person not willing to give mercy so easily and I think it's because of what he experienced in Episode 5.

From what I've been hearing, the Weeping Angels are on a mission to turn off ALL THE LIGHTS IN NEW YORK, so that the biggest Weeping Angel can move freely...that's right, the Statue of Liberty (You remember that tweet by the statue of liberty a few months back saying "WHO's a weeping angel"). Also it looks like the angels have evolved yet again: Now they can become any statue regardless of the material they are made from. Rory gets zapped back into the past and lives out his whole life and dies before he is even born. Amy willingly gets zapped to try to find him and I believe there is a letter that she writes to the doctor that explains everything. Also, there is a possibility that Clara Oswin makes an appearance as her original character is from the 21st century but the angels zap her to the 1890's where the Doctor meets her during the Christmas episode

And for non spoilerish news, rumor has it that the second half of the season will air starting the first week of march and run for 8 weeks. Then there will be a break and Doctor Who will come back with seven specials for the 50th Anniversary that will run once a month starting in the summer and ending around Christmas.

Relating to episode 5...

I was reading something today (forgot where i saw it) which said pretty much that in the episode The Doctor and Amy are racing to save Rory. It never said what but it supports the above spoiler if that turns out to be true.

Good news on the second half of the season though, did not wanna have to wait another full year for it. 6 months with the christmas special ain't too bad at all.

I really am starting to think that from the point of view of the Doctor, Episode 5 has already happened. I believe he was absent from their lives for a long stretch of time when he showed up for episode 5, and after the events of the episode, he couldn't deal with the heartbreak so he went back into their time stream during the gap of years that he wasn't around. So as the viewer, we are seeing events unfold from the Ponds point of view, and to them it looks like The Doctor is just coming around to take them on an adventure. From The Doctors point of view, it's Episodes 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 and from the Ponds point of view, its 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.

There is evidence of this in "A Town Called Mercy" where they are walking into town and the Doctor says that something isn't right. Rory talks about the street lamps and The Doctor says that its 10 years too early for that, and Rory responds that it's only a few years out. The Doctor then says to Rory "That's what you said when you left your phone charger and King Henry VIII's suite". Not a big deal, could have happened off screen however:

You can see the phone charger. So this could mean either he was describing an event that he witnessed already that was in the Ponds Future and they don't know about it yet, or in episode 4 there are flashbacks to things that happened before "A Town Called Mercy". But right now it seems to me that he described something that hasn't happened to them yet.

Supposedly during the 50th Anniversary specials, we will learn a little more about Tenzalore and the Doctors destiny, and then in Season 8 (2014) he will have to come face to face with the event of the question being asked. The question is if we will get a 12th Doctor or if they just end the series.

I was under the assumption that during the 50th Anniversary specials the 9th and 10th doctors will return, somehow. Plus past companions like Rose.
That is not unusual for the Doctor series, as in the past other Doctors shared a special episode together. Well, I just can't wait

Christopher Eccleston, the 9th Doctor, has said on several occasions he will not return as the Doctor in a special. That does disappoint me, as I would love to see his more serious Doctor verbally abuse Matt Smith. David Tennant would probably say yes before they even finished asking the question.

Still, some sort of end of time collapsing thing would be interesting. What I wish they would (could) do in one of these instances is, if they have someone locked in for the 12th already, would be to include them in such a meetup.
