Probably just Easter eggs related to this being the 50th anniversary of the series, but has anyone else noticed the either overt or subtle references to all the earlier Doctors? The Great Intelligence again (being a 2nd Doctor villain) in "The Bells of Saint John", the Doctor saying he visited the alien market before with his granddaughter in "The Rings of Akhaten", who was the 1st Doctor's companion for a good while, the Ice Warriors in "Cold War", who appeared in a number of serials in the 2nd and 3rd Doctor eras, and the Metebelis III crystal in "Hide", which was tied heavily into the 3rd Doctor serials "The Green Death" and "Planet of the Spiders".

There were also references to Amy, Rose, and we even saw a short glimpse of the 4th Doctors scarf in the Wifi Episode so it seems to be a theme of all things Doctor Who.

The Whoniverse itself makes fuck-all for sense. That's as enduring a rule as "The Doctor lies."

This half of the season's much better than the first half, which seemed to have held no better purpose than to set up this half (re: Clara's intro), and it showed.
