For the most part, The Doctor was lacking his usual wit and energy. I felt like his dialogue, in this and the previous episode, was rather flat.

Indeed its been pretty damn poor this season, i just hope to whatever deity there is that they get their fingers out and make the special amazing. I did like the to and fro between The Doctor and the Cyberplanner but the rest of the episode was meh, could of had him sitting in a park playing chess and it would of been as good imo

I disagree that Warwick Davis made the episode. He just seemed so... dull. Present-day Clara still hasn't impressed me, either. Her past and future counterparts were much more clever and dynamic. As it stands now, I miss Amy.

One of the comments may have nailed what it was about this season that I couldn't quite put my finger on:

I think I discovered what I'm not liking about this season (well half season) - no one seems to care that there's a time travelling alien. Clara didn't act too surprised about the Doctor, and the TARDIS, and the whole time travelling aspect. But I can kind of attribute that to...whatever the deal with Clara actually is. But now 2 young kids discovered who the Doctor is in a couple hours, and then when they get a chance to travel in the TARDIS, and acted like it was something everyone did all the time.

And I think that's what's felt so wrong about season 7: Everything feels business as usual. From the adventures themselves, to the dialogue.

My main problem with this season is that the chemistry between smith and clara is just.... dull, and not that great. At least not yet.

Amy/Rory/Smith was amazing and just went really well together.

Now, don't get me wrong, I think Clara is awesome, but she just doesn't mix very well with Smith for me. (which I guess could very well have to do with the writing -- I'm not one to analyze every minor detail)

I could really go for a new Doctor asap to at least give Clara a decent season or two, will be sad if she goes before the next regeneration.

Knowing the nature of Dr. Who I feel like I already know the answer is yes but I'm asking anyway. Can I watch E10 (Journey into the centre of the TARDIS) before E08&09?

Perfectly phrased. And it's not just true for Clara, it's been that way since the beginning of the season. The most dynamic interaction we had with The Ponds was in Asylum of the Daleks, after that until the tail end of The Angels Take Manhattan, they were just sort of... there, in addition to the problems with Clara.
