I think Peter was a good choice for the 12th. Last seasons doctor felt like he was getting more darker and to me Peter fits that kind of a role.

So I stopped watching the show after the wild west episode with the cowboy cyborg. With the writing on a downward slide at the time, that episode killed all interest off for me. With a new Doctor, I was thinking of giving it another go. Did it get better?
No denying, this latest season was kind of disappointing, but it had some high points.
I think the best episodes were maybe Asylum of the Daleks, Angels Take Manhattan, Bells of St. Jon, and The Name of the Doctor.
A personal favorite was Cold War (but I'm apparently the only one that feels that way), and the only part I liked about Nightmare in Silver was that it made the Cybermen threatening again; for a Gaiman episode, it was a let-down.
Why does there need to be reconciliation? Freema Agyemann (Torchwood employee) was in 2006 season finale before coming back as a companion, same for Karen Gillan (soothsayer) in Fires of Pompeii. They didn't bother explaining either of those.
Though they did bother explaining Eve Myles being in The Unquiet Dead and Torchwood. They could just use something like that.
The writing was not the best. Lots of maybe plot holes. Most of it could be overlooked really.
The visuals where nice but then again that's hardly the point behind this show.
It's worth watching I would say if you are fan. there was so nice moments. I have some high hopes for an older doctor. Still think I liked the 10th much bettet.
If bad explanations and really corny story lines(even by doctor who standards) get you there are a few you might want to skip(more so in the seventh season)
Edit: dinosaurs on a spaceship was a low point for me off this past season
I was rewatching the Season 5 Finale. "The Big Bang" I got to the end of the episode and some questions arose.
The Doctor reset the universe and in doing such he erased any existence of himself from the Universe, right? If that's so, then how can River Song give Amy the Tardis book at the wedding?
With no Doctor, Amy and Rory can't have sex in the Tardis. If no sex is had, Amy can't get pregnant, the Silence can't kidnap her, steal Melody Pond when she's born, raise her to kill the Doctor, who then can't try to kill the Doctor after regenerating into River Song but fall in love with the Doctor and give him her remaining regenerations.
And I don't get how people can like Angels Take Manhattan. It was horrible and badly written.
Oh and as for Freema, Her Character in the end of Season 2 was a "Cousin" of Martha. It's said in the start of season 3, I believe.
Found it amusing that the new Doctor played a W.H.O. Doctor in World War Z.

Spoiler: show
The Doctor, the Ponds, and river are the last ones because they're all tempral anomalies because of everything the doctor did afterwords. River is only born because of the doctor, Amy had the crack in her room, rory got wiped from existance. So it should stand that went everything reset river shouldn't exist to bring the book back.
River being there and able to remember the Doctor would make more sense if she were from a different universe or something. And thus would be uneffected by the Who universe resetting.
I'm not fighting for a point or anything. I just love arguing tempral mechanics.
I'd hardly call it horrible, but badly written I could definitely agree with.
What made The Angels Take Manhattan memorable for me was the farewell to The Ponds. I'd grown rather fond of Amy and Rory, so it was hard knowing that would be the last time I saw them.
But anyways, I think awful writing was what did in most of the episodes for this season--Smith had already established himself as a brilliant Doctor, the Ponds and excellent support in the 201l season, 2011's "The Silence" arc was well-executed, and Coleman's Oswald made a wonderful showing in Asylum of the Daleks and The Snowmen... so we know it wasn't simply shitty performances. I suspect poor direction, planning, and dialogue were the flaws in most of the 2012 season.
And mentioning once more how much I hate dividing the season into two halves.

And yes, I have no doubt there will be. (I know one black actor who was already offered the part of the Doctor, and who turned it down.)
Idris Alba?
Oh man. That would have been epic
I could see Chiwetel Eijofor in the role before Elba (and don't get me wrong, I idolize both).
I rather doubt the role was offered to two who are so high-profile, especially outside the UK. It was probably offered to one of the more locally (in the UK) known actors on the list.
This is awesome.

really rooting for him now.
Hooooly shit. Need a change of pants.
I really want to like this show. I just can't get into it.
I started with the reboot and am about halfway through the second season but I've completely lost interest.
I'd recommend watching to the end of season 2 if you can, just for the last episode.
