    Though I was disappointed it was just the Master. I did like how Capaldi was nearly starting to smile at the same time he was horrified at the revelation.
    So is this incarnation of the Master supposed to directly follow Simm? I thought for a second Missy might be the Valeyard which would have been infinitely more awesome.

    The theory is that if Missy is indeed the Master (and it isn't some fake) it would be post End of Time master when he got sent back to Gallifrey with Rassilon and the others.

    She is pregnant and she was about to tell Danny (all the post it notes were markers for her to remember exactly how long it's been so she can time it out). This would also explain Strax's comment about watching out for Fluid Retention in the premiere.

    - Still rather glad Danny is dead, although it doesn't matter much anymore
    - Unless I missed it, still no explanation on how the Master survived past The End of Time
    - Thinking the Master should have regenerated, no? Surely one hit from a cyberman isn't all it takes...
    - Some really nice interplay between Capaldi and Gomez
    - It wasn't the biggest payoff of all time, but I did like the theme of a soldiers death is to protect the living
    - Wouldn't have minded more Clara for her final episode, she's really been rocking it
    - I'm assuming she's not in the Christmas special, but do we know that for sure?
    - Fantastic little silly one-liners to lighten the mood
    - Osgood. SO PISSED OFF ABOUT THIS. UNACCEPTABLE.

    but what's up with the master/missy thing going on. how did s/he survive, get to where s/he is now, and for them to allow a timelord to be killed so easily. i just don't understand some of the things that went on, the finale arc thing wasn't really all that great either.

    It was a shame that they didn't explain how the Master came back but as for being killed off, I wouldn't count on it being final. Moffat explained in the Doctor Who Extra that in the 80's the writers would kill off the Master after every encounter and he'd pop up every now and again explaining how he escaped death, so I expect that we will see Missy again in the future

    Didn't we see Missy in the Gallifreyan hard drive talking to that AI?

    The escape will probably be either teleportation or her consciousness being saved to the drive and something involving clones.
