Some quick news from a recent event that occurred over the weekend:

• Season 9 begins filming in January
• When questioned about getting a new sonic, Capaldi said he wanted to sidestep marketing opportunities (in other words no need for a new sonic)
• Capaldi wants a new retro/Bauhaus style interior for the Tardis with the round things. This seems fair since Matt Smith got two consoles
• Capaldi also stated that he wants to stick around for a while

I'm once again the odd man out. Perhaps it was the absolutely terrible season or my increasing hatred of Moffat, but I didn't particularly like Missy. The character was just boring. Maybe with a better plot and more time being an actual villain it would have felt less like poorly written fan fiction.

I look forward to the day Moffat is gone (and perhaps most of the current writing staff).

Absolutely this. She survived Zygots or whatever but is stupid here? Come on now.

I'm going to be sad to see Clara go, honestly. Mostly because they simply butchered her character so hard this season and are now releasing her. Should've gotten rid of her before the season if that was the road they were taking.

So, I was thinking about something today. It was Missy who got Clara and the Doctor together, right? Why? When the Master fucked with Martha and the Doctor, that made sense. The Master was pushing them together so they could rescue him from the end of time. Why did Missy push these two together?

I just don't see that, personally. The Master didn't know the outcome, she could have died(and did) along the way and then that was for naught.

Probably for pretty much the same reason as last time, pair them up so they can go save Gallifrey then he can escape so he can pair them up to save Gallifrey and he gets to go on and do what he does best and tbh i really don't think she was killed and even if she was the way The Master is being potrayed you know s/he will appear once again no matter what.

I'd heard Capaldi had signed on for season 9, but this was the first I'd heard that he has also signed on for season 10.

It also looks like Jenna Coleman has decided to stay on for the first half of the next season, which was not the original plan. Scripts apparently are being re-written to accommodate the change.

The original script supposedly called for the Doctor to be by Clara's side as she died as an old woman during christmas, so basically reverse of how she was by 11th's side as he was about to die of old age.

did the doctor wake up outside the Tardis at the same volcano he took Clara too in the dream state to find out how far she would go? why was he there? I thought it was going to be something like that episode was all a dream? but they didn't make anything of it. also I guess Clara is going to be around for another season?

I think what I'm taking away from this special is that I wish Nick Frost was The Doctor.

Capaldi is much better on The Musketeers than he is as the Doctor. I really wanted to like him in the role too.
