No idea what the problem is, but you could try connecting your card to both your HDTV and your normal PC monitor at the same time. Let your comp recognize both monitors, then tell it to display only the HDTV monitor. This way you'll at least4 see if it's recognizing it.

    1. update your drivers if u havent. 10.2 Catalyst is the current non beta driver
    2. open catalyst. Graphics > Desktops and Displays. Should be two displays if you have connected everything right. The TV and the Monitor.
    3. duplicate/extend it. This should for the TV to recognize the HDMI card if it hasnt yet.
    4. IF your getting the image. Start messing with the setting. you might have to go into Windows display setting to fix the resolutions also.
    5. If it doesnt full screen automaticly ( mine didnt do this for some reason) go back to "desktops and displays in catalyst. Setup the TV to have "enable GPU scalling" then go over to "Scaling options" tab and adjust the underscan over scan bar.

i had to do all this just a few hours ago i realized my Sony TV had like a 2/3 inches worth of space before it was fullscreen. Took me like 30 minutes to find out what was wrong. GL OH! and if the sound doesnt come through go to Windows Sound options in the control panel set your HDMI output to "Ati HDMI Output"
Control panel > Hardware Sound > Manage Audio devices

    should look like this

the first blue screen is the TV click config and go from there
