Chris Evans is one of those actors where you watched Not Another Teen Movie and then you watched Sunshine and went "Is this the same fucking guy?".
I had no doubts he could pull off the role, especially after watching Ledger in TDK.
Went and saw this Saturday with the wife. For not being shot in 3D, I felt the film came out pretty good in 3D. IMO, I felt this was up there with the First Ironman and Spiderman movies as the best super hero movies out there. The only depressing thing about this movie is it reminded me and the wife how old Tommy Lee Jones is, even though he was gold in this movie.
Apologies if this has been discussed before (I'm not gonna review the last 14 pages), but am I the only one that noticed... inconsistencies in the CGI? There were times where it seemed pre-serum Steve Rogers kind of--I'm not sure--looked a bit unstable, kind of like a shape shifter. There was one stand-out scene (where Cap chases down Red Skull's plane, I think ), where there was a rather obvious editing error, it seemed to cut from one shot to the next rather sloppy. The effects over all seemed a touch rushed.
Chris Evans seemed kind of stiff in the good guy role, but then, that's nothing new. He was a similar lump of clay in Push, but brilliant in Sunshine (where he was a good guy, but more of a hard-ass), and practically carried Fantastic Four (good guy, but totally the class clown). I suppose neutral good, subtler emotions really aren't his strong suit. However, it worked out okay for Captain America, I suppose, since I always pictured Steve Rogers as being this stiff "center of the storm" sort.
Totally had no clue Hugo Weaving (excellent as Red Skull), and Stanley Tucci were gonna be in the film, which was a nice surprise, as was the Arnim Zola appearance. The application of Bucky wasn't bad either, would be dope to see him return as the Winter Soldier in a sequel.
Overall, not bad at all, far better than I'd expected. Would watch again.
The more I think about it, I would love a Captain America 2: Strike of the Winter Soldier sequel. I'm kind of giddy.
MARVEL IS JUST DOIN IT
so about those easter eggs in Iron Man 1&2 with Cap's shield
Spoiler: show
Pretty obvious it was a caricature. Look at it, wasn't even completed, much less Vibranium
Yeah I'm assuming those were just designs of the shield that Tony's father may have worked on while working with Captain America.
I assumed the one on the wall during the first movie was just a replica. Obviously with Howard Stark knowing Cap, that would have rubbed off on Tony. Also, I assume the shield in the second was one of the models they made that Cap rejected.
Not to mention that Captain America was an American symbol of the war effort in the 40s. It's not a stretch that Howard bought Tony some of the comics to remember his friend... which would have given Tony the idea to replicate the shield. That's why I'm interested to see their interaction. To Stark and the rest, Rogers could be a myth who mysteriously disappeared and now suddenly they're meeting the real deal.
It could be interesting if they play it well.
Just got back from seeing it, and I gotta say, I didn't really like it. Worst of the Marvel movies
Spoiler: show
dunno if I should lol or umad.jpg
They had 70 years and stark, it's not so far-fetched that it irked someone. I was annoyed that he was in any kind of coma at all. He's captain america and I bet a regular human could have survived that crash landing even in a huge aircraft like that if they had any sort of experience and didn't just nose dive into the ground(but it did look like he was nose diving into the ice lol)
Did you see how fast they were traveling? Sure, any normal human would've survived at that rate of speed into ice. They were almost to NYC from Europe in the span of an hour. The only way to stop it was crash it, all this was explained. Do people have selective amnesia and just like to bitch, just to bitch?
Uh.. you seem to be overreacting or trolling. But I'll bite either way.
The only way to stop it was to crash it, yeah. Does that mean he had to nose dive that fucker into the ice? No, just crash land it into the ice like that one guy did when a commercial aircraft's engine failed, like that youtube guy who landed his small plane in a street when his engine failed, or like tom cruise did in knight and day!!!!
And how do you know it traveled from Europe to NYC in an hour?
God damn lol, this was my favorite movie of the year and you're getting this hostile about me not getting sold on captain america not crash landing an aircraft properly?
