Finished Mandau 90 last night, and with some small playing around, it seems that it should be able to compete with Evisceration when stacked once more. Using AA/GH/RR was keeping up with Evisceration numbers - was fighting Bennu & Ouew/ethehellitsspelled so the Piercing #'s would be skewed, but was hitting 4-5k on the birds around Bennu & 2-3k on Bennu with SA - MS. I'll play around with VV/GH/RR to see how it keeps up when the STR buff is applied similar to RR DEX buff.
At least this is the START of fixing relics!
Only because you can force it to crit :/
I think you missed the point that only thf really can force a ws to crit and as such it should be more like a single relic was fixed instead of relics were fixed.
My apologies, I didn't mean to generalize that ALL relics are fixed then. Let me rephrase:
At least this is the START of fixing MY relic.
Sadly, the people jumping on you are wrong - this is the start of fixing every relic that used it's relic WS (and has nothing to do with SA), which was still a minority...
Disclaimer: Not a PLD, just was looking @ Aegis 90 and had a question about magic damage. Please don't kill me.
If overall cap of -mdt% is 50% and shell V is 25%~ then is extra 15% on 90 aegis moot? Does the cap increase, or are they treated differently? Again, honest question trying to crush a debate between LS members lol.
Unless you're constantly having Shell dispelled yeah.
Not really. That's a separate debate entirely but since mercy stroke cant crit and thf already has a decent crit ws the fact that you can force crit mercy stroke is the ONLY thing that made the lv90 relic semi "fixed".
The relic ws considered decent atm @ 90 are for jobs that don't have a critical hit ws to begin with generally speaking.
Vorpal Scythe is serious business.
Sorry for sounding like an ass. But Even if final heaven got an 100% boost instead of 35% boost it still would suck lol. Whose to say the level 90 empyrean does not get a boost in ODD. Who is to say that the level 95 empyrean does not get a boost in the duration like mythics did on aftermath or at level 99 the empyren also gets a 35% attack boost in WS damage.
The level 99 relic would have to have the hidden effect proc on all crit hits and the Tier 2 version of a Weapon skill to be able to keep up
MDT and PDT both cap @ 50%. regardless of what combination of spells and equipment you have, you can not exceed -50% MDT.
However, a combination of MDT/MDB/Resist sets can further reduce actual damage taken.
If you look at the physical side, it will make more sense to you.
Base defense of 900 and -50% PDT will take less dmg than base defense of 0 and -50% pdt.
No one is going to kill you. SE clearly have no clue what PLD is, or what Aegis is, or what Shell V is, or what MDT cap is. If anyone should be killed, it should be the idiot that thought Aegis, or ANY job in the game, needed more MDT. MDT is the easy to cap. Its also likely WHM gets Shell VI, which will further negate the need for any MDT at all except a couple of merman's rings.
Last I checked Mercy Stroke was worse than other WSes at 75 if not force-crit also, or is that wrong? I was under the impression that unstacked, DE was better than Mercy, but Mercy destroyed it when stacked. In other words, SA/TA have always been what "fixed" Mandau, and we're now coming full circle back to where we started.
That being said, what jobs even used their relic WS @ 75? Thf, Sam, Drk? Maybe a few others did situationally (Rng, War), but not regularly for the highest damage output. I guess you can say it's because said jobs don't have a crit WS...but really it just happens to be the same ones that were usable at 75 also.
As a side note, I'm a bit unsure why people think a crit WS is such a huge deal. Gekko averages higher than Ascetics or Jin from my experiences (esp @ 90), and the WS rate is significantly higher (though obviously less white damage). I'm even more boggled by people that think Ukon outdamages Masamune outside of Abyssea, doesn't even seem remotely close to me (With Masamune being far far ahead), but /shrug.
The problem with how they are fixing relics though goes back to WSes being usable at 75. As a Sam, I feel if they continue to buff Kaiten, it -will- fix Amano, but I don't see WTF that's gonna do for relic Drgs, Wars, Rngs, etc.
Pretty sure even with the boost Fudo still shits on Kaiten.
amano sam in my shell keeps up with my hira +2 in ws damage fairly well, its just about even I'd say, have about the same gear just different ws's, sept I use Heafoc and he uses Bandos for Kaiten, we'll see what happens when I complete masa this weekend if my dns doesn't act like shit and prevent me from doing anything.
only key difference between the two of us, I have a 5 hit he has a 6 hit, he has OTD I have nothing to fill that gain in dps, so when it procs it generally makes up for any gap lost as he usually gains 900-1.3k+ white damage depending if crit or not.
Did anyone even make level 90 Aegis or Horn yet? Figuring since DD weapons got the WS damage increase, wouldn't be a shocker if these two also got something ninja buffed or added. Also Fudo doesn't destroy a level 90 Kaiten by much from my experience.
I think it's a good thing SE seem to be evening our relics/emprys. I always found the way they handed mythics very distasteful.
FFXI current has three "sets" of "ultimate weapons". Empryeons, Relics and mythics. All of them require a vast amount of time and energy. Sure. emprys are a bit easier to get, but really, theyre all goals that require a bit more time and effort than most. I don't think it would be too unfair to even out their effectiveness.
Mythics really got shafted. Some of those weapons are just a damn shame for the the effort they once required. Speaking of which, are mythics showing any improvements? Prolly not but thought i'd ask.
Atonement got a 15% damage boost. Yagrush lost its Divine Benison bonus entirely.
Ryunohige is the most attractive DD-Mythic by a loooong shot, and probably DRG's best weapon in my opinion.
