i concur 100% i remember when i sync'd amano to 66 & 74 and was like se is going to drop the ball with the cap raise. low and behold i was right. it shouldnt be worthless @ 75 since thats where it orginally started out. but alot of the ppl in this thread just wanna say " zomfg u guys are q.qing" which isnt the case.
people are pretty much saying " get ur relic to 80, then go to the ah and buy a hagun if u need to do anything capped "
alot of these ppl who say that shit dont have a relic and prolly wont get one. bc after all that effort u put into a relic. why the fuck would u wanna take it off for sum ah shit? isnt the purpose of a relic weap to be unique? well guess what, when sync'd it is NOT.
I understand this point-of-view. However, supposing I had a relic weapon, after all the effort I put into it, I wouldn't need merits for nor would I level sync on that job! I've associated with several players who have relic weapons. You know what they did when something other than their Thief or Samurai or whatever was needed? Talked to their Moogle, changed job, et le voilà! Hell, there were times I asked for Mandau and I got Summoner or White Mage instead. If you guys are of the one-job-forever mentality, then don't level sync (and you shouldn't need to, anyhow). Whatever else you might say, your reduced Claustrum or Gungnir is more than capable of performing whatever ENM you spend ~10 minutes on per week.
Props on being a great troll. I'm just assuming this is the case because the bullshit you spew has absolutely no logical merit whatsoever.
Not needing merits? Right, as someone already said, most all of us have our relic job capped on merits. In fact, I'm sitting at nearly 800 "active" merits (actually having earned far more than that and re-merited certain things). Sadly, I'm still not capped. Past that, if there hadn't just been a level cap raise to 80, I'd likely be leveling other jobs. Assuming that people have no use for merits, especially because they have a relic, is inane.
Assuming that after completing a relic, a player would want to not get any use out of that relic, switch to another weapon, or switch to another job that fills the same role (I could easily go switch to mnk or something) is equally inane.
I was always happy that I had multiple jobs and could fill virtually any spot in any fight/event, but that has absolutely nothing to do with anything here, so I have no idea why the fuck you're bringing it up.
And the last statement you made is really the worst part of your post. Just because something is "more than capable", we should be happy with it? If all we wanted was something that's "more than capable", we would have fucking stopped with a Blau or Hagun or Perdu or whatever. Full NQ gear is "more than capable" of doing whatever the fuck you want to do with it.
Arguments aside from whether or not the trial limits are BS, I'll say this:
Your resulting weapon really should have been something like this:
(Dagger) All Races
DMG: 39~ Delay: 176 Attack +20~
"Mercy Stroke"
Additional effect: Poison
Lv. 75 RDM / THF / BRD
i personally never needed merits or exp on any of the jobs i had at 75. but then again thats just me. i didnt do the whole job whore thing. and yeah here we go with the job change shit.
its just the weapon shouldnt be useless @ 75. you shouldnt have to settle for a backwater ah weapon. or having an event take longer (bc lets face it, not everyone has a relic and ppl still want help with shit)
and as for ppl comming to things on jobs they arent wanted on or w/e. shits situational, not everyone is a raging dumb fuck lol.
Wut? Maybe you should actually read what I said because you're basically just repeating me here. I like it when people agree with me, but it seems a little needless.
But since you're the one who made the appeal for logic, riddle me this: how many situations are you engaged in on a weekly basis for which you are level synced to 75 and no lower? The only compelling answer that has been given so far have been certain ENMs. Ok, so maybe you need to buy an Onimaru if you want to solo Sheep in Antlion's Clothing, but that's a maximum of 15 minutes every 5 days. The trials to get your level 80 weapon are more than sufficient to level you to 80. For that matter, you have to be level 80 to equip the damned thing, so unless you need to cap XP because your healers suck or you're stupidly suicidal, there's not a whole lot of reason to be joining some level sync party.
You say that you have a metric ton of merit points and yet still aren't capped. Well, since Samurai doesn't take 800 merits to cap out, I guess that means you play other jobs. So, since you're the one demanding logic, explain to me why someone who willingly plays other jobs is suddenly unwilling to do so in the name of putting merits on them? It's not as though your other jobs are Beastmaster, Puppetmaster, and Thief, thus faced with significant difficulties getting a party. If you insist on meriting them, you must care about playing them, so if having a gimped Amano bothers you so much, merit on your other jobs that you apparently actually like.
No part of your objection makes sense. If you're not capped on Samurai merits by the time you have Amanomurakumo, something is markedly wrong (or you're Wopa and getting Apocalypse at level 1 DRK). If you're already merited out on Samurai but you still want merits for your other jobs, clearly you must intend to play your other jobs. No one is going to pitch a fit if someone owning Amanomurakumo doesn't have merited Lullaby recast on his Bard, I promise, but if you insist on capping out your Bard's merits, play that job when meriting requires you to level sync.
Honestly, the tone of the objection that I'm getting (beyond, "I wanna complain about something and this is the best I've got") is mostly that people apparently got their relic weapons so they could make Greater Colibri explode faster. You're going to argue with me, I know, but the only reason I can see anyone complaining about their relic being gimped under level sync is because they really enjoy hitting pink birds forever. I suppose this is the real cause of relic sickness, yes? People have no clue what they want to do with the incredibly powerful weapon they just worked to acquire, so it's back to whacking Greater Colibri until they cancel their subscription.
Disregarding the quip you tried to make about my wordplay to try and big-up yourself (since you have nothing more to say in your defense), I'm trying to make you see how stupid you look, wanting relics to be synced down for the purpose of using in majority meritpo, where it's only a marginal increase vs using AH -> Top-of-the-line R/E gear. You're making a work around if you are complaining about no camps for lvl 80, when there are -- there are no optimal, 20-30k+ per hour camps (saying this is fine, and would have shooed me away.)
When I compared your relic vs non-relic at colibri, I was hoping you'd see the fact that it's nigh useless to worry about having it or not at all -- Colibri camp will be jam packed day and night for a number of months, and you'll be lucky to even get normalized, optimal exp that you used to get when only the cap was @ 75.
Actually I'll meet you and people like NynJa halfway -- Mandau was a weapon that actually made THF a contender in meripo, so only they have the right to bitch. Every other job can simply use a well tested polearm of choice, or bow, great axe, hand-to-hand, etc. PLD can pray to get a meripo invite or change job, RDM get in easy, WHM can baw a few tears, then take up a healing role in merit instead of swinging their relic around to try and keep up with DD.
I'm done with this silly argument within this thread and making huge replies, have fun weeping about your non-syncable relics, nothing will change either way unless JP beg for it.
P.S.: Nightmarelord, go away, your argument add-ons and Amano are null and void D: You don't play anymore and you secretly make fun of people that still play FFXI. Where's mah paddle.
I argue one thing, Se half asses it like no other. the reason sync / capped 75 stuff fails is bc they once again failed to do something right. when gear and weapons sync there should have been a bit more consideration for things not so easily obtained. ESP @ 75 cap. Guess all we can do is sit back and wait and see what the next updates bring. right now the cap / sync just causes the game to live up to se's motto. "Time Sync"
It seems unreasonable to me that level 80 relics wouldn't sync down to their highest-augmented level 75 stats. Why should your weapon get less useful the more you work on it?
:/ every time I see your sig, I always think something is missing, I think I found out what it was.
http://i26.tinypic.com/2dt6rmf.png
And once again you bring up some meaningless bullshit. Does it matter how often I personally play while synced to 75-79? Imagine that, when I have spare time right now, I'm working on these trials, not meriting another job. For some odd reason, I put my Sam first.
And what does leveling to 80 have to do with anything at all? Has anyone at all besides you even mentioned that? Get a grip...
Well, to be fair, I don't actually use at least half my jobs, but I'm still doing my best to full merit them, 'cause well, the only "point" in playing this game is advancing your character (or just playing with people I guess). Also, where did you come up with any assumptions on what I'm meriting? I did merit thief by playing my Sam as well as other jobs. I was leveling Pup back before the level increase (Why not? Usu/etc), so actually ya, I do want to merit less useful jobs by playing Sam. But thanks for assuming things. Do you understand the concept of efficiency at all? Yes, I consider Sam my main, and play it whenever it is efficient to bring. That being said, it isn't always the case. I'm not really going to go through and list every time a different job is better for you, I'm going to assume (probably incorrectly) that you are capable of that yourself. That being said, the only other DD I leveled (out of 10 jobs) is mnk, mainly just because I had the gear, and the only real time I use it is when Formless will make it better than my Sam (which is also why I merited 5/5 formless, though most people disagree with it, I have no real other use for the job at all). That being said, the most efficient way for me to merit is generally on Sam. Am I opposed to going red mage or bard? Not at all, but when I know I can do more damage than virtually any other DD I party with, and others know it as well, nobody prefers that option.
Yes. Clearly everyone should play whatever job they want gear for when they acquire that gear. Sorry, but in my personal opinion, one of the best things about this game as opposed to other MMOs is the exact opposite of what you are preaching. The fact that I can use my "main" job to gear up my other jobs. You're right, it doesn't matter if my bard's merits are capped, but holy fuck that isn't the point, which you still don't grasp. It doesn't matter if I have bard leveled, have all my subjobs done, etc either. But the fucking point is that people do level different jobs and want to merit them out, whether they play them or not. Some people also want to do that in the most efficient (or most fun) way possible, WHICH FOR RELIC HOLDERS GENERALLY ENTAILS USING YOUR RELIC.No part of your objection makes sense. Are you really this stupid? Not a single person is even suggesting not upgrading their relic that I know of (or if they are, it's because they don't have time for trials, not because of the level 80 issue), because guess what, you're wrong. The issue is that since we are all going to upgrade it, it'd be nice to not be gimping it for certain situations at the same time. Furthermore, I'm not sure who is legitimately complaining. I find it annoying and funny at the same time. I think it is ignorant and stupid on SE's part, but in the end, no, it's not going to have some huge impact on me. On the other hand, you haven't made a single intelligent post or point in this thread, and I felt like pointing that out.Honestly, the tone of the objection that I'm getting (beyond, "I wanna complain about something and this is the best I've got") is mostly that people apparently got their relic weapons so they could make Greater Colibri explode faster. [Edit: Also, let's assume they do this again at 90 cap, we upgrade our relics to level 90, then they release 90>99 cap. I highly doubt that there will be more and more new camps to exp at, meaning people may be syncing at all sorts of levels between 75 and 89, don't worry though, we should be happy our relics don't work.]
Sad Keanu is sad.
Also this thread is attracting too many dumb arguments that are hiding useful information about lv 80 mythic/relics. Can we get a "Lv 80 Relic & Relic Magian Trials" thread so that people without relics can try to convince people with relics who spent 100+ hours on trials that they're bitching too much?
I'm not going to convince you, Failure. I mean, I never will, because nothing short of the second coming of Elvis Presley seems to be able to budge you once you've latched onto an idea. So, whatever, claim you've won this argument with mind-boggling discordant arguments that you tout as logic, I'm pretty well done. Except...
Why do people keep assuming this? Ok, I know that the new camps right now blow. But how does that translate to every other level increase resulting in the same? I know a large part of it is cynicism about SE (and, of course, hopeful wishing because it supports your argument), but no developer whose head is at least a few inches separated from his rectum is going to look at the game and say, "Well, they need to grind through about 1,000,000 XP to get to 99, they should have no trouble finding an endless supply of level 75s to sync to for that." Even those people who've been pampered forever by the mindless XP grind of Greater Colibri have been adapting to options like MMM and forming up an alliance in Abyssea. For that matter, you can get very comparable XP at 56 and 37 on little pink birds, so why are people so obsessed about 75 specifically? It's not like you should be using a slashing weapon on them, anyhow. Either way, I'm pretty damn cynical and even I don't think we're going to be left high and dry without XP camps for the grind from 80 to 99.
Edit:
For what it's worth, though, I really do think you're not adequately answering whatever the hell "The issue is that since we are all going to upgrade it, it'd be nice to not be gimping it for certain situations at the same time." is supposed to address. I spend as little time as possible under level sync. You personally may not be pitching a fit, but others here are.
Again with this shit, I am perfectly happy for the relic to be gimped under sync. Its the fact SE has not implemented any optimal merit camps or even decent camps for a level 80. Fucking right I want it to be optimal in all situations, since the vast majority of other endgame content also focuses on targets with similar level ranges to merit targets.
Clutching at straws here, not even a remotely valid point. The only arguement you could've made is that the possible oversight SE may have made will be short lived.
Heaven forbid people want to optimise they weapon the spent 200M+ on, even if it is only marginally better than a common weapon that has a damage type bonus against certain families.
You're really beginning to sound bitter, I'm sure we won't miss your contributions.
They specifically made a level 80 version relic so we can make another 75 relic! how nice of them! Then when the 85,90,95 versions come out we can upgrade more relics to have a total of 6 different relics of the same name for each level cap! What joy we get to have to do the magian quests so many times! And for the 99th upgrade after individually doing the magian quests countless times over and over we can combined them all into voltron!
=(
Ya, basically never...elemental only limbus w/ Faiths...Blm AF Hat? Few other random times I was specifically killing elementals or slimes, /shrug.
I make no claims it's all-around useful, I leveled the job 'cause I have full Usu, I merited that because I saw no other use at all for monk for me, and I basically only play it when formless would come into play, which is quite rare.
Such amazing logic. I've admitted I was wrong multiple times on these forums...here it comes...when I was wrong. It does happen. Sadly, I'm not wrong here, and there is absolutely no good reason for relics to become level 80 and not work under sync. Period. The extent of your argument that is valid is that it's not that big of a deal, and most of us have accepted it, but coming in here and arguing that it isn't a negative is just...well, stupid.
I'm confused, are you playing a different game than me? This isn't even saying there will be no camps at level 90. It's saying that they will be crowded, there may not be enough, and they may be worse exp than syncing down. MMM? On our server, that wasn't even a very good option because it took half an hour to even get in.Why do people keep assuming this? Ok, I know that the new camps right now blow. But how does that translate to every other level increase resulting in the same? I know a large part of it is cynicism about SE (and, of course, hopeful wishing because it supports your argument), but no developer whose head is at least a few inches separated from his rectum is going to look at the game and say, "Well, they need to grind through about 1,000,000 XP to get to 99, they should have no trouble finding an endless supply of level 75s to sync to for that." I don't sync much either, but you know how people bitched a storm about needing lvl 30 gear for CoP back in the day? It's the same fucking thing. I won't sit here for a month crying and whining about Amano being a level 80 item, but I won't hesitate to say it was a stupid decision on SE's part, and I wish they had just an ounce of foresight on things sometimes.Edit:
