I know next to nothing about RDM solo, but isn't the consistent damage reduction from Staff better than the chance reduction from shield+sword. I understand that overall the shield/sword combo will have better damage mitigation, but I was under the impression that RDM solo was easier /w reliable damage mitigation instead of chance damage mitigation?

I don't solo on RDM either, but in the worst case, where you can never block with shield, you have -15% pdt and 24 def so you don't lose much.

So had my first merit party with the completed Bonesplitter last night.

Honestly, I was worried going in that the loss of the Attack from Perdu would really make the completed axe very little of an upgrade. I was very wrong. The base DMG far outdid the attack. My average hit was up about 40, and my Weapon Skill average was up about 200. Overall, very happy with it.

Pardon my ignorance, because I only had 75 PLD for a whole two days(with the equivalent of a level 20's shield skill), but don't you have to be engaged to block?

Doesn't seem like this is all that useful for soloing most things, but seems pretty nifty for tanking.

Nah only need to be engaged to parry, block activates long as you are facing the mob(s).

edit: too slow apparently.

Parrying and Guard won't proc if you're not engaged, Evasion and Shield will. You had a 50% shot on defensive skills!

Not that it really matters but voking and flashing a mob before it came to camp and seeing the block animation before i engaged is how i learned about it lol.

Also secret bonus: You can shield block while resting, and if you do it won't make you stand up.

Does this have the +10% Wind damage that the precursor staff has, or does that disappear entirely? (I'm guessing disappear, but it'd still be interesting to know)

EX means it's not tradable.
Rare is where you can only have one.

Every time you get an item, the inventory position of same-named items potentially changes via auto-sort.
