Only time DMG+ Magian will be useful is when you can't find someway to keep Rune Active, or Fortitude is going to cause problems with whatever you're fighting.
Waste of time, IMO.

Think rune will still be the best at 99?
RC needs a full 3mp to drain to activate the latent?
so ares+yag drinks if your rdm sucks/isnt available i guess?
Rune is pretty fantastic because of the gear choices it opens up. However, if it cannot be upgraded or we get march 3, it will eventually fall.
20+15+25+10+10 = 80 already. Give us another 10 and we can stop hassoing. Give us 5 and we can drop 5% from gear, or switch the dnc for something/dnc. It will be interesting to see how this plays out if they introduce more or more potent forms of haste.
By the way, I barely get Hasted on War and am not always healed by rdms. Assuming Rune will always be active is a stretch.
Pretty obvious that the relics will get OAT or some shit later on, with these new ones getting more buffed damage + the OAT of the current magian lines.
The 105 Dmg gaxe is great for whomping the shit out of stuff with 2hred KJ, I assume.
I thought Gaxe was DMG:100?
scythe is 105 iirc
I'm going to go with +damage is the starting point of these weapons
then OAT higher base damage will add other stats and the lower base damage OAT sword will eventually have OA2-4.
I wouldn't be shocked if any of these empyrean weapons didn't have any OAT.
the weapons with only dmg+ augments are the most bland, so I'm guessing they will be getting the most expansion to them. I still think you will need the final weapon from multiple paths to start a final trial for Empyrean weapons though. Obviously just pure guessing at this point.
Also people should stop arguing about what weapons are the best at 75 anyway. It may very well hold up to be the same at 80, but at 99 im guessing anything anything that cannot be upgraded through trials will be fairly useless.
I'm fairly sure that "80" augments per weapon includes all the stages.
So dmg+1 is 1 augment, then when you get to dmg +2, that's 2 augments, etc..
So for the OAT weapons, how many stages do they require? They already have that many augments.
This is SE. Decieve and disappoint are their design philosophies.
I don't see much reason to assume that the empyrean weapons are the final form of the current magian weapons. Seems just as likely that the weapons will be Abyssea drops that probably start with abysmal stats, and have to be boosted through a bajillion trials.
Truly you can't have expected someone to be able to put 80 different augments onto one weapon, all at one time? SE didn't do anything wrong, the playerbase obviously misconstrued what they had to say. Expecting an 80-line augment on a weapon is borderline stupidity. No, it is stupidity. Sorry for the confusion, stupid
I wrote this up a while back but never posted because I figured it was fairly obvious. Anyway..I'm fairly sure that "80" augments per weapon includes all the stages.

I might have missed a couple, but that is pretty much it for the augment list. They can vary the specific numbers and limit how many can be combined together (and whether you even get a choice in such combinations) to restrict the final number of possible weapons created.
IMO, SE would be out of their fucking minds to add OAT to Relics. I can see them offering a bunch of other stuff, maybe even job-specific buffs (like +DA on Bravura) but not OAT.
As for the GAX sucking, along with the H2H, the update could very well change that as SE is extending all existing trials. which means the current OAT weapons are about to get even better.
Lord only knows what you'll have to do next though.
The only impression they gave is that there would be expansion of existing trials. The only specific mention was that relic/mythics would be getting more trials.
Didn't SE say something about Magian Moogle also doing armor as well? perhaps retrieving a damaged piece of gear from the abyssea NMs and giving it to the moogle will be what unlocks AF3.
I also suspect them to do something with the salvage gear as well, as they seem to show that off in the trailers as well.

The impending version update will usher in new trials allowing adventurers to take weapons already augmented via prior Magian accomplishments and enhance them further. Needless to say, new trial sequences for relic and mythic weapons will be included among these.
Now I suppose there's a slim chance the OAT's won't be included in this, but I doubt it.
