How is distinguishing between a process where you cannot participate AT ALL if you haven't purchased content and one where you can progress up to a point but no further without purchasing content splitting hairs?

It's straight up baiting completionists, as in the second scenario they either have to buy the content or be content knowing that they can't actually see a progression chain of trials to its total finish.

Ah, so even with the OAT DMG+19 now proc'ing on both fists, the DMG+27 H2H wins against them, assuming a 60/40 TP/WS damage distribution?

That is a really hackish way to determine which is better.

Glavoid NM is in the mob list of Tahrongi(A). Have fun.

I need 50 drops from this Chloris NM in the same zone for my turkey fists. With 1~2 items per kill, that's 25~40+ kills...

Again if you wanted to fully complete the RoTZ story (which was also a part the main game's story) you had to purchase CoP. It's hardly baiting the customer there are other paths in Trial of the Magians. It's not unprecedented for them to do similar.

The only reason you're even complaining about is the fact they released Trial of the Magians and VNMs before the "expansion" was released. There's no indication that Trial of the Magians isn't part of the Abyssea expansion and it works into it perfectly. If they released the first 20 floors of NI before releasing ToAU would it suddenly be a rip off for ToAU? You're definitely just splitting hairs at this point. It's SE that decides how and when it delivers content.

I could understand people saying Abyssea doesn't have enough content to warrant being called a full expansion. Really then say it with your wallet don't buy it or wait til the whole batch of Abyssea has been released.

Are you actually interested in any of this and/or still playing the game, or do you just get off pissing on everything about it?

No, the OAT weapon wins, mathematically, but only just slightly (talking fractions). 2-3x isn't as good normally due to the DMG+0, but when you consider the effect while using Footwork (which is effectively at least DMG+17, more like DMG+37 if you have Kyoshu Kyahan or similar) they take top spot for that purpose.

Now obviously you aren't going to want to be using Footwork all the time, so if you want the absolute optimum choices, then DMG+27 for normal h2h use and 2-3x for Footwork use is your best bet. You cannot own both OAT DMG+19 and 2-3x, because they are both "Ursine Claws", and the weapon is Rare.

If you want to save a little inventory space without really destroying one or the other, OAT DMG+19 weapon isn't *too* far behind on Footwork, and since it shares top billing with the DMG+27 for regular h2h use it's a good bet. OAT weapon has its own implications on account of the added mob TP gain and other such problems though, so consider at your own risk. It potentially has more room to suffer from high monster defense than the DMG+27 weapon does, but feels the impact of accuracy losses less (both on account of higher # of swings per time and the subsequent effect of more weaponskills, which natively carry an accuracy bonus).

Has anyone actually proved that Ursine Claws work that way with Footwork? Faith Baghnakhs certainly do not and the fix released that made Ursine Claws/Wargfangs operate properly could certainly have removed the weird Footwork functionality.

For that matter, has anyone tested Kenkonken and Glanzfaust yet?

Yes, I still play. Quite a bit actually. You were whining about not having to get the expansion to get gear that was said to be from the new expansion. Your whining was getting annoying, I just pointed that out.

Sorry, let me clarify. Doing all the math to find out the damage, and then assuming a 60/40 TP/WS split defeats the purpose. The 60/40 split is a hackish solution to finding out the actual damage potential of the weapons.

Are the OAT h2h weapon working on both hits confirmed? All I see is speculation, or so and so said this, but nothing concrete.

Unless I missed a post, which I may have? idk

I see the mob list on http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Abyssea_-_Tahrongi

Are you talking about Chukwa the adamntoise NM?

    Also in the description

    Regurg. Wing
This partially digested wing retrieved from a glavoid clearly did not agree with the giant worm’s stomach.

    Glavoid Shell
The massive shell of a glavoid.

The above descriptions maybe the giant worm that is the glavoid- ie Minhocao

I don't see how asking for a split after something that's non-Abyssean content (VNM) into Abyssean and Nonabyssean content is such a unreasonable thing to ask for, especially considering the difficulty in obtaining 10 VNM items for someone who doesn't play 6+ hours a day. Hell, you could even give us multiple ways of getting the same item or something, because they obviously have never done that before.

And I can't believe you're actually making the case that Magians is somehow Abyssean content even though it was released 3 months before Abyssea was. The best you could say it is is WOTG content, because it requires kills for WOTG monsters on some trials.

Again if you wanted to fully complete the RoTZ story (which was also a part the main game's story) you had to purchase CoP. It's hardly baiting the customer there are other paths in Trial of the Magians. It's not unprecedented for them to do similar.

Do we know they fixed h2h oat for both fists or not, otherwise its still garbage.

I've read several times that it's fixed and is now awesome, but people keep on asking so it makes me wonder if it was really verified or just no one reads.

So whats the general outlook on the new magian weapons? Full damage, OAThrice, or DA+?

Basically want to know for scythe and h2h

edit: just saw the post on h2h stuff, but what about 2-hand weapons? And how do the swords compare to joyeuse?

And while you're at it, can you mention which is best for pup as well as mnk for the H2H? They might be the same, but then again, the two job's Dot/WS split might be different due to different gear and weaponskills. (asuran fists vs stringing pummel)

You're kidding right? Have you even talked to the VNM npc or looked at the trials? Seriously to not understand that Trial of the Magians and VNMs are hand in hand with Abyssea and it's lore you'd have to be blind or have a hate on for reading anything.

A huge chunk of the trials are tied to Abyssea even before this update. Not just the 10 items but the fact the high damage route requires you to kill lots of higher tier VNMs. So in other words Trial of the Magians wants you to make use of the VNM system. Now unless you literally haven't touch VNM content you're completely terrible at reading comprehension because you use ABYSSITE to attract monsters from the Void (geee I wonder what that could be.) The NPC's name "Assai Nybaem" even is an anagram of "I am Abyssean" and talks about Abyssea. I can't believe you people feel like this update was sprung by surprise on you. You're bitching because you're either unobservant or just because you don't think you should have to pay for content.

Sure it is a good idea. Do people not like continuity in stories? It'd be retarded if every expansion in FFXI was a stand alone experience not requiring the other at all. If they suddenly released a mission that was preparing you to follow Tenzen over to the far east would you suddenly feel upset and baited into buying it? Get your head out of your ass. Also SE is a company and this is an MMORPG, companies like to make money. If you don't want to pay for content go play charades.

And "a huge chunk of trials" have nothing to do with VNMs. I had to kill NMs or mobs from every other expansion of the game, by your logic that means it's a pretty short list of things the Magian Moogles are not "hand-in-hand" with.
