Particularly, with Erebus, how exactly does the elemental absorption work? The wiki says that casting fire ON it induces it to start casting fire, and when it's casting fire, it absorbs (that is, gets healed by?) ice. But from what I've been reading here that doesn't sound entirely accurate.
Is it then that you cast fire to get it casting fire elements, it will cast Fire IV, which may or may not be an attempt to heal itself (as opposed to, "I just cast Fire, but it's casting Ice, so it must be trying to heal itself!" which would be so much simpler), so you cast anything-but-fire, and that nuke then hurts itself? Or does it have to be anything-but-fire-or-water?
that was kind of long-winded so:
tl;dr --- Basically, is "Erebus starts casting Fire IV" mean fire heals him, and everything else hurts him, an accurate characterization?
Also, I assume everyone is mentioning Fire as the desired "default" state because there's no ugly Enfeeble-gas associated with the fire element, correct? What's the "suggested" alternate element? It seems like every element besides fire has something ugly (or at least shadow-wiping), though Poisonga would obviously . Does he use Breakga for stone?
(probably going to try to solo these guys on NIN/RDM. Assuming I can kite them to the trees at night-time without dying first.)
