Best advice I can offer is to pull a Raker Bee / Rummager Beetle and mess around until you get it to work. I highly doubt SE would patch a pathing glitch. Also, make sure it was specifically the rock I outlined. There are like 20+ of those same looking rocks but not all of them glitch it.

The mob can run through the rock on the northish side. You have to be careful not to let it get too close to you. Some spots it doesn't matter how close it is to you once you reach a certain spot, it will flip directions, but some only work if you can maintain ample distance. The one in Saruta isn't a perfect spot, so if it gets too close to you it won't glitch.

anyone ever checked if you have to be in pt/ally of kill to get a chance for the t4 key item drop? we did 4xt3 yesterday and ended up with 3xt4 pops. the only one who didn't get one was my mule, which we invited into the ally for pop and dropped after that. maybe it's just luck with beeing 3/4 tho, as i thought the rate is around 25%.

Tried the pinning thing yesterday as RDM/NIN. Worked fantastic for Lamprey Lord! Super easy solo kills.

However, I also tried Shoggoth a couple of times and had difficulty with his Chainspell. He killed me twice after I got him down around 10%. Specifically, even with poison on, the Sleepga would sometimes stop me from running (in between ticks) long enough for him to get off a -ga nuke. Two or three of those in a row and I'm dead.

How have you guys been dealing with that? Herme's Quencher and run away? Will he de-pop if I get too far ahead?

The easiest way to handle him, is to just kite him for the duration of chainspell, and wait with reapplying poison/bio until chainspell is over. Mainly because he have a tendency to Sleepga (which will stop you until the next poison tic kicks in), and then barrage you with single-target T4 spells. So the safest way is to only reapply poison/bio when he don't have chainspell on. His chainspell isn't dangerous if you don't allow him to get in range.

We've done it successfully maybe 30+ times now?

Anyway pop it, depop by accident after 4 minutes of fighting.

Repop it: The entire fight every nuke (Blizzard 3 thunder 3) does <75 damage and poison 2 lands once.

Sub 20% was hell but we downed it.

    Thoughts?

well, I know that T3s can seem to pop at different difficulty levels. I've had a 10 min kill on krab and then one from hell spamming the hate reset, maybe the same happened to yours, even though it's T2. It depopped and reset, changing it's level of difficulty.

So we're now 0/25 on T2... Been killing undead all week. Has anyone else gone this far? This is pretty outrageous considering the awful drop rate on the mobs themselves.

I broke 30 when farming yellows for my Athame. Currently on a streak of >20 on undead as well, but overall average seems to be in the 1/5-1/7 range for me. Insert statement about statistics and random chance.

Tried Verthandi fight Salvage style with 7 players (MNK/NIN and relic NIN) tank. It's definitely doable we took it down to 13% and NIN went down after getting hit by Cyclonic Torrrent + Holy II. The only DD apart from melee tanks was a BLU/THF and it worked surprisingly well.

    Overall a much shorter fight.

Already said it's easy to do that way, but use SAMs. Seigan is a nice alternative for mute and their damage isn't significantly below a MNK's.

So before I run out and get myself brutally murdered, I wanted to try and get some things clarified with regards to those undead suckers.

Particularly, with Erebus, how exactly does the elemental absorption work? The wiki says that casting fire ON it induces it to start casting fire, and when it's casting fire, it absorbs (that is, gets healed by?) ice. But from what I've been reading here that doesn't sound entirely accurate.

Is it then that you cast fire to get it casting fire elements, it will cast Fire IV, which may or may not be an attempt to heal itself (as opposed to, "I just cast Fire, but it's casting Ice, so it must be trying to heal itself!" which would be so much simpler), so you cast anything-but-fire, and that nuke then hurts itself? Or does it have to be anything-but-fire-or-water?

that was kind of long-winded so:
tl;dr --- Basically, is "Erebus starts casting Fire IV" mean fire heals him, and everything else hurts him, an accurate characterization?

Also, I assume everyone is mentioning Fire as the desired "default" state because there's no ugly Enfeeble-gas associated with the fire element, correct? What's the "suggested" alternate element? It seems like every element besides fire has something ugly (or at least shadow-wiping), though Poisonga would obviously . Does he use Breakga for stone?

(probably going to try to solo these guys on NIN/RDM. Assuming I can kite them to the trees at night-time without dying first.)

I lock Erebus into either earth or water, depends on if i have a blm stunner or not. Breakga is not possible cast, bindga is though so beware (short duration, never caused me to get hit).

If you cast Stone 1 on Erebus, he will only cast earth based spells. Stone will cure him and thunder dmg will be reduced (rumored stun was resisted so i stopped using stone with blms)

If at any point he starts casting a tier4 immediately change his element. This will always cause him to nuke himself for 4 or 6%. (if he was casting on himself)

Trees work very good for Erebus and Feue

Also, minimum of 3 powder boots to get them all the way to trees from farthest point West near the castle

The trees definitely make Feuerunke a cakewalk, but I haven't tried to do Erebus there yet. Are you keeping him pinned to the cliff (south) side and then trying to outrun -ga spells by moving north? Or have you just been eating those with a -MDT set?

I run for the hills when he does a ga, if im duoing though a rdm/drk is enough to stop all ga's

He runs very fast compared to feue so you need to use his full path around the trees. you can outrun his spells when he is north and south, but if he is midway on a solo it usually means your eating it.

Took 56 minutes on RDM/SCH using fence at (J-7) in East Ronf (S).

Thanks to Demogorgon for giving me the pin spot (he aptly calls it the "epic fence"). It's basically the same as other curved fences you can pin with, except the sides are extra long. Makes the mob take absolutely ridiculous paths. I'm sure he won't mind me linking his pic.

    http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/1297/epicfence.png

I took a water resist set and kept it on standing gear + AF2 hat. Was 163 in gear standing + 100 from barwater (263 total). Fully resisted all Bubble Showers. I know it resists Venom Showers, too, though it never used it once during this whole fight. Never saw mega scissors either. My nuking gear sucks royally so you could probably do this faster.

I'd love to see a SCH/RDM try this. Helices seem like it would rock on this. If you didn't have the best fast cast gear, you could still alacrity all your helices and it would probably work. COR I'm not sure how it would fair. You have to kind of do damage it spurts to be most efficient due to Metallic Body spam.

seems like a huge waste to do though...
drop rate is already retarded with TH4

I helped a duo like a week after vnm came out and we pretty much agreed its a royal waste of time.

    grats i guess though >.>

Wow awesome kaeko. Good job on the solo, wasn't expecting any of the T3s to be soloable.
