Groovy, thanks, even though its like pulling teeth to thank a Giants fan.

So yeah, I finally found that fabled Wolf vs. Behemoth spot and yeah, ouch. 0/6, and then I took a break to play SF4. Not strong enough to kill the Behemoth before it pulls out the sunder-stick, and a well-timed sunder at about 10% health one-shots my leader each fight.

Back to the fields for regular grinding!

Er... you should be able to kill the Behemoth before it even targets your group, since its fighting that wolf guy, who is then substantially easier to kill. You could even bring each target down to miniscule health and AoE them down for no real damage done to yourself at all

You should be able to do that right as you first enter Gran Pulse? What the hell - I was capped for all roles before the upgrade to 4 and the beginning of chapt. 11.

That spot becomes viable to farm IMO when you have the growth egg for double CP (basically you can do this whenever vanille learns death) and you can get the fights down to under 20 seconds.

Yeah, it certainly isn't viable right now. I'm sure Snow (my leader ATM)'s ass is still stinging from the bitching he received.

    You're doing something wrong.

Go in with rav/rav/com or something, as soon as it's staggered swap to double com, it'll be bouncing in the air til it's dead. Wolf alone is a joke.

Every now and then he'll heal himself like the second you hit him, but you just retry then.

Using Com/Rav/Rav, including with launches. I can't kill him from half health to dead before the stagger wears off, but I'll try switching to com/com/rav and see if it helps.

I know the wolf is a joke - I was previously farming big wolf + X4 little wolves, but decided to try that spot since it was the "mystical farming spot of legend".

If I can't wipe out that 380k HP before the first stagger wears off, the fight's over, so I'll just work towards that.

If you do it with com com rav, the other com will start attacking the wolf. I'd just work on getting your char str up a bit and trying to kill the behe asap with com rav rav.

Er yeah I forgot you can't go com com rav, you prob won't have aeroga either.

I'm not sure what's up if you can't kill it before stagger wears off though, the only problem you should be having is if he heals. Maybe go do a bit more mission/story and come back.

I had enough time to spare that I could manipulate my main's timing as ravager to keep the behe bouncing just by having them essentially alternating. Remember that attacks that land keep it up in the air once it's launched. Have your strongest Com as notmain, your healer (which should also be your best Rav) as notmain2, and control another as ravager to keep it bouncing.

I struggled with it at first, went RAV RAV COM and it was easier from there. The key is letting the COM (I used Light, Fang was COM) launch it, I usually fucked up by skipping the last attack by paradigm shifting, which would cause the behemoth to stand up.

I started doing it at Ch.11, without having any weapons/armor upgrades and no roles maxed. So you definitely don't need to progress with the story.

    RAV RAV COM
    RAV RAV COM
    COM COM RAV
    RAV COM MED
    RAV SEN MED

I stopped using the last one after getting enough CP, but it was pretty much required when I first started farming it.

I'll keep trying things out - maybe having double coms for those nasty death strikes and stuff right at the end of the juggle will help, but yeah, its just a matter of not being able to drain all his half HP before the stagger wears off, and then we all know what comes next: heal >> thundaga >> SUNDAAAAHHHHHH!!

I've just spent a happy day with Fred and Barney as I started to name them by the end of it - go in set to relentless assault (RAV/RAV/COM), the second stagger hits, flip to aggression (COM/COM/RAV) and you might have to short-cut your ATB bar slightly by pressing triangle if it looks like Behemoth is starting to head groundward. That's really all it is to it - occasionally you get runs of shitty luck where he stands up and goes into painga mode, the second he got to his feet I used to just hit retry - but you can do these straight at the start of chapter 11 (I'm as a rule shite at videogames and I could pull it off), then just run back up past the save point to respawn the pair of 'em.

Got my first kill on him after some serious grinding. 6.6k CP? Is that it?

Yeah lol. Its a lot more when you're able to kill it in much lower time. If you have to struggle with it, its not worth farming. My record for the kill is 5 seconds, but generally go 6-8 depending on the fight.

    PS. Also Growth egg helps.

The place to grind CP is in chapter 13.

There's a spot you can kill 2 groups then reset, one is single mob gives 64k with egg, the other is 2 mobs gives 72k with egg. You can do each kill/kill/reset loop in under 10 minutes easily anytime, under 5 with good luck.

You basically just go there, and if you want a challenging fight at the end you make an extra save there, do the missions, then go back and grind from that save and use it to enter endgame. Otherwise just grind there until you're completely capped out and sitting on 999,999 before you go in because the last boss gives no CP and you can't ever get back there.

Then you enter the last crystarium expansion with a mil to spend and everything below it capped out, so you'll get most of what you need just doing the rest of the hunts and stuff.
