How exactly were CS done in LBP1 anyhow? Only way I can think of doing it is reserving the back layer for spawning your sackboy into a vehicle, and scripting the vehicle to move around to act as the cutscene's camera, and use said vehicle to roll over triggers to make CS events happen.
Also, anyone up for doing some LBP1 co-op this weekend for trophies and other shit? I may as well get off my ass and at least complete all the online-related ones before the game becomes outdated. I could really use help for the Metal Gear Rex stage trophy, you basically *need* 4 people who know what they're doing to beat it on time.
That makes me curious actually, can friends assist with DLC zones? I'm assuming they can given they had to download all the media associated with it anyway for user-made levels using the data.
Thats one way to do it. The other popular way is to set up a line of cutscene camera magic mouths on a block of material with a magnetic key(or any other key) traveling along it with a timed piston. You have to guestimate how long the player will want to spend on each "cutscene image" and as the magnetic key reaches each mouth they will activate one after another (usually/hopefully shutting off the one before it.)
So ideally, if you wanted an event such as your sackboy is in a box and you want a cutscene showing where the key is you'd do this:
A) Sackboy hits 1-shot sensor switch.
a-1. "Timeline" piston starts.
B) Timeline piston hits the first blue magnetic key
b-1. Magic mouth starts with the camera pointing at a treasure chest.
C) Timeline piston hits blue key #2
c-1. Magic mouth zooms in on treasure chest.
c-2. Treasure chest opens, revealing the key, then closes.
D) Timeline piston ends.
Theres many ways to do it, or so i've read. But the above ^ using timed pistons instead of moving the sackboy in the background is what i('ve) usually see(n).
And yeah friends can co-op in download areas :D so long as both people have it. Pretty sure if you're the host and a player doesnt have it, they get kicked as you enter.
Wow, just watched the trailer for this. I really enjoyed the first game for a while (especially user levels) but this looks like an entirely different beast. I cannot wait for this.
My daughter just informed me that 'there is no way i can't buy this game, or Gamefry it or whatever' So... looks like she has made my decision for me. Hiryo, you have been PM'd. =)
Ha I can't imagine renting this, or "Gamefrying" it =P It will be bought for sure.

interesting interview with the co-founder of Media Molecule. Looks like now that MM has been bought by Sony they are using the shared tech. LittleBigPlanet 2 will be using the same MLAA (anti-aliasing) technique as God of War 3.
omg this game looks so amazing, i havent been able to play the first one alot because i just got my ps3 like 4 months ago, and ive been buying new games like god of war and FF13 but after watching that trailer this is a buy for me. cant wait to make a game and just have fun with bg peeps.

can do your ultra pre-order now if you wish, I already placed mine in, cannot wait :D
LBP2 footage from latest Qore. Video quality is kind of shit but it has some interesting stuff.
I really like the idea of linking everything to the web, and being able to queue up your levels from the web for levels you like the look of, then them being ready to play later when you fire up the PS3. Every level will get its own web page with high scores, screenshots etc.
I hope that you can set a limit on the grapple tool, cause that just sparked so many ideas in my imagination.
this kinda sucks...
http://www.littlebigplanet.com/en-gb...lebigplanet_2/we’ve taken the hard decision to delay the worldwide release of LittleBigPlanet 2, originally slated for later this year to January 2011.
That's probably a good thing for me as GT5's release would have overshadowed LBP2 completely. Now I'll time to enjoy both on their own this way.
while that is shitty, I would rather see them take their time with finishing the game rather rushing it out and having to deal with patches to fix up somethings that they could have better ironed out.
3 week beta started yesterday. For some reason PSN mailed me a beta key, and I honestly don't remember having signed up for one.
Anyone downloaded it yet? I wouldn't mind hearing how much HD space I need to clear away for it. ;/
