Yay, just checked my old email address and I got a beta invite, DLing now. This works out perfectly too since I'm passing on the PS3 version of New Vegas until I manage to build a new comp.

Haven't been able to play a whole lot of the community levels due to lag, but they really stepped up how easy it is to make levels. MM simplified a ton of logic so it's much easier to make more advanced switches. The music sequencer is also easy to use, I haven't played an instrument or looked at sheet music since compulsory music class in elementary school and I was still able to make some decent sounding tracks. Another great fix for create mode though is they added in much more specific commands of original features in lbp, which will save a ton of time when making levels. For example, you can glue 2 speicifc objects together so you can avoid the problems that LBP1 where other unintended objects would also be glued down. They also made it so you can reset switches and counters just through the tweak options, so you don't have to go through and manually fix every switch if you accidentally trigger them and save like in LBP1.

I still haven't been able to mess around with most of the new features due to time constraints, but the few I did try out are really helpful and incredibly easy to use. For instance, to make a spinning wheel with platforms that stay at a uniform level in LBP, you had to use counterbalances and weights attached to the platforms, whereas you can just slap on a gyroscope rotator onto a platform for the same effect now. There are a ton of new sound effects too in addition to the music sequencer which is also great and have pretty much every sound effect you could need. Theres a lot of new cool materials too like hologram which you can just to make stuff look like it's inside a tv.

Movie sequences have a lot of potential too but I can see them getting annoying if inexperienced players abuse them. Also, sackbots are incredibly easy to use. You can set the general behaviour very easily using either preset behaviours (follow, flee, etc) or a record feature (think R&C: Crack in time), and you can stack them easily as well onto the circuit board. Using this, you can have really complex behaviours by simply picking 2+ behaviours and throwing them onto a circuit board. I can't stress how incredibly easy they are to use.

All I have to say for now, really looking forward to this game.

Sony’s lifted the lid on loads of LittleBigPlanet news today, including
the announcement of a PlayStation Network spin-off and an
    upcoming LittleBigPlanet 2.

    Sackboy’s Prehistoric Moves

This is a LittleBigPlanet spin-off for PlayStation Network that
utilizes the PlayStation Move controller — it was rumored last week.
The ten-level long game has players taking on challenges issued by
Terrance Dactyl in attempt to take down the king, Evil Big Rex.

Like LittleBigPlanet 2‘s Move compatibility, Sackboy’s Prehistoric
Moves has one player using the move controller and another using
the DualShock controller. The player with the Move controller will
aid the player with the DualShock in completing the levels ’ various
    puzzles.

As the above might have had you assume, it’s a Move-required co-
    op-only experience. It’ll release on December 14 for $5.99. It’ll be
free for PlayStation Plus subscribers. The game will also be
available free on the LittleBigPlanet 2 disc, for those who want to
    wait until January 18.

    LittleBigPlanet 2 Story Mode Demo

A story mode demo for LittleBigPlanet 2 will hit PlayStation
Network on December 21. It ’ll give players a taste of the sequel’s
new gameplay elements including the Grapple Hook, Sackbots, and
    Creatinator.

    LittleBigPlanet 2 Beta

In early December, Sony will be sending out a new batch of
LittleBigPlanet 2 beta invitations to PlayStation Plus members,
community contributors, and even hold a few giveaways.

Was a nice thing of MM to allow us to record our own sound clips. I'm picturing people making indepth tutorials as to how to build/setup some of the more complicated machines/game modes we'll be capable of in LBP2.

I know there were a shitload of times I'd be playing a LBP1 map and going "How the fuck did they do that?". Granted quite a few of them involved glitches in the engine to achieve them (such as anti-gravity), but you get the idea anyways. Got my Collector's Edition pre-ordered, can't wait to get it and start building my overhead dual-stick shooter.

I never fully understood the the 100 layer glitch hopefully MM integrates that bug as an official feature in LBP2, I played some pretty amazing levels that involved it...

oh, what does collector's edition give over normal? any special content level creation wise? o:

From the looks of it you can do that in-game yourself. Tons of the videos I'm seeing use that multi-layer background, so surely it must be integrated into LBP2.

Would be nice as it allows you to get more creative with the areas and add some more detail without having to sacrifice the third layer to put crap in.

    Just the following

Granted the TRON skin is a GameStop pre-order bonus for NA iirc.

I also wonder if you have to buy the Pirates DLC to have access to water in the create mode, as apparently you don't get the Paintenator if you don't have the MGS pack.
(granted you don't really need the paintenator when the Creationater is miles more powerful)

Hadn't considered, but since my wife and I just bought a home those LBP game ends will be a nice feature in our living room for game storing. :E

I just hope that even if they're made of cheap plastic (very probable), that they're at least properly weighted, as I got 70 PS3 games that could use some sandwiching.

Also disappointed that they got Jak/Ratchet in the DLC costumes, but no Sly. ;/

Oh wow, my copy of Little Big Planet 2 just arrived with Modnation via Fedex from the subway give-away. Anyone else that won it, you should be receiving it today or very soon. Honestly wasn't expecting it until Monday or Tuesday. Awesome!
