    iPod Reformat/Recovery/Restore issues

Bought my friend's old iPod Nano 8 gig from him today and havin some issues.

He's got a Mac so first thing I had to do was reformat it to FAT32 which I did. Now it's in Recovery Mode and iTunes says I have to Restore it. I click restore, agree, and it says this:

There was a problem downloading the software for the iPod 'iPod'. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation.

Do I have to somehow "verify" this iPod for my computer? What the hell do I do here? Never run into this before.

Notes: The capacity on both the iPod and on my computer under the iPod tab says n/a or 0kb. Think it said something like 7.91 gb free (nothing was on it) before I reformatted for Windows. Using Vista, newest version of iTunes, etc

First thing on google I found was to keep trying to download (worked eventually, busy server?) or disable your antivirus to get it working. Personally I've never seen this problem.
