Georgia has a bill running through the approval process with bipartisan support that will ticket people going under the speed limit in the left-hand lane.

This is something that needs to be done across all 50 states ffs. Nothing pisses me off more while driving than people going under the limit and not letting people who want to go the fucking speed limit pass them. I'd much rather see this fine doubled or tripled, and I'm not even joking in the slightest. The vast majority of my near-miss accidents are people who pull out in front of me while "accelerating" or pull over to pass going 60 in a 70, causing me to slam on my brakes and nearly rear-end them in the process.

Ranting aside, this is a step in a good direction. Maybe next someone will put forward a bill to ticket people just for driving in the left-hand land only.

I get wanting to drive slow sometimes. In those wee days leading up to blazing-hot summer days, I like driving around going 55 with my windows down and no music around 7-8PM when the sun is juuuuuust on the horizon. It's insanely cathartic since the temperature is in the low 80s and 'wind chill' makes it feel more like 70. (Oddly enough I use driving to calm me down and for an adrenaline rush, just depends on my mood, surroundings, safety, etc.)

That said, driving slow and being a detriment and danger (yes, danger) to other drivers is a different story.

But you can do that in the right lane instead of the left (and I'm sure you do or you wouldn't be complaining about slow drivers in the left lane, but I'm complaining about the people who don't. Even if they aren't makign things less safe it still makes no sense to drive slow in the left lane).

Also, I was driving up in upstate new york this weekend in a rented expedition and it could have been the car, location, or going 90mph but tons of guys were letting me pass them in the left lane. Usually downstate ny, ct, ri, ma is full of douchebags who do this.

In a related story, I was driving home to Atlanta from Baton Rouge(a nice 8 hour drive) at about 2 am, when I began to approach a long line of cars doing the speed limit in the fast lane. I was understandably perturbed, so I zoomed past them, only to find a police car leading the way >.> He didn't give me a ticket but it made me paranoid and I drove the speed limit the rest of the way home.

its really annoying around here (Tidewater area in VA) because the posted speed limit is 55, but there's just like an understanding that everyone goes 65-70. So when people are going 50-55, technically they are just driving the speed limit, but that's still anywhere from 10-20 mph slower than I, and most motorists, drive.

That's how it is on I-75/85 that runs through downtown Atlanta, whenever I go back I'm always surprised when I see the 55 speed limit sign.
