Thank you. I think the movie could have been epic if they made it 2 or 3 to get the full story in.

Saw it yesterday. I think I'm about a dozen years too old to really get this movie. Fight scenes were good though. Funny bits with the old gaming references. Okay movie but not epic.

Attendance is down about 50% this weekend compared to it's weak opening weekend. I don't think it is picking up steam any time soon.

I finally saw the movie on Sunday and I liked it overall. The writing and direction is clever and the chicks be hot. I just couldn't get my little brain wrapped around the thought of Michael Cera as a heartbreaker. I think the movie would have done better if they had a different lead.

Saw it with my sis tonight. There was only a couple ditzy looking chicks besides us in the entire room. ;/

Movie was alright, but as already mentioned, it really could have used an extra 30-60min of footage just to flesh out the evil exes more rather than just flying through them all
    Spoiler: show
with a disappointing final showdown. If the movie was based on game-logic Gideon should have been a 3-part battle.

Fucking loved Wallace though, had all the good lines.

Really loved the movie and the tons of references.

Just a quick question since I haven't read the graphic novels yet:

How come Scott has all those superpower? It just came out of left field when the first ex attacked and even his friends seemed surprised.

Everyone just knows he's the best fighter in the province, there's no explanation as to why he can fight other than he just can.

Yeah that's what I thought. I imagine people who don't know the series may have been mightily confused why this nerdy looking guy (sorry Cera) can suddenly kick some major ass.

If people are able to accept Chinese people sword-fighting on trees, they should have no problem with Scott punching d-bags.

I think Cera is the issue, he really doesnt look like he could be an average to good fighter. If you read the comics, it makes much more sense because while still being naive and all, he looks much more cooler.
For example, the actor who made Percy Jackson would had been a much better choice but they niche-d themselves into indie genre with Cera

Now that I think about it, why are we even having this conversation about Michael Cera's fighting ability and not Matthew Pattel summoning fucking demons? lol

Seriously, there are fkn 1-UPs in the movie, swords that come out of chests, coins that come from dead people, skate boarders going down rails at 200+ mph, and vegans.

I finally saw it Sunday and I thought it was a fantastic movie and a decent adaptation. I feel like a lot of negative reviews of the film are missing the point and should follow the MST3K Mantra. I saw an article calling the story in general very misogynist and for the most part if you really want to explain the hyper realism of it all, the story is mostly a symbolic of Scott's need to grow up and get over the fact that a woman he's falling in love with has a checkered past. Him defeating the evil ex's is him learning how to deal with the fact she's got a past without him. Like Chasing Amy without the lesbians and threesomes.

I thought the movie was great. Edgar Wright is one of my favorite directors and I felt like he captured the spirit of the books spot on. He was attentive to detail and made sure to include just about everything a fan of the books could want. It looked great, sounded great, and felt like Scott Pilgrim should feel.

As an adaptation I thought it was okay. Obviously you can't include everything that you want, but I felt like there were a lot of key Scott/Ramona relationship beats that were missing that really made it feel like they had the connection they had in the book. Out of context a lot of the scenes felt forced. And at the end?
    Spoiler: show
It really felt like Scott and Knives belonged together because they were the characters that grew up the most in the story and they grew up together.

I also thought Michael Cera was better than I expected him to be. He's not very good at playing spiteful and he doesn't quite have the natural charm that makes him so likable, but he's definitely extremely believable as a nerdy, insecure, young man who needs to grow up. Only time I really stopped believing him as Scott and saw him as (George) Michael is when he...
    Spoiler: show
made plans to have brunch with his evil self.

Keiran Culkin as Wallace was pretty amazing though. Perfect deadpan snarker.

    Overall a really fun movie.

Touche. Though Ramona is decidedly not a lesbian (or even one in the same way Alyssa was). And I haven't read volume six yet... ;\
