It's obviously gonna cut through some character/relationship development that happens in the books. But it seems to take the spirit of the full story and present it right (considering we're getting only ~2 hours worth)

I wish we got to see Ramona's gradual changes in style and fashion... there was a point where I thought that she sometimes looked a bit more like Envy Adams (all hot and dolled up). Then there's the whole Scott growing up and getting it, actually holding a job. I don't know how much they will put in for the other characters either.

No, What I'm saying is that maybe the source material does not make for the best movie. I'm not saying they should make a movie and take out all the weird little quirks that were in the comic, I'm saying that it seems like something that would not translate well to film.
This of course does not include the opinions of fans of the comics, however, I'm sure if there is something wrong with the film, they will be the ones to bitch about it the most.

It looks retarded. The elements of the comic put into the film make it look retarded and stupid. That is what I said in the post you are calling "backpedaling". It puzzles me when some people pull out the 'opinion' card on matters of discussing a book/movie/game/music that they have never actively participated in but find themselves opposed to the subject matter, and to those people I ask this question: If you saw a sign for a book club meeting and the topic of discussion was to be Stephanie Meyer (I'm picking a pretty safe hate-bet here, insert your own loathsome literary author for maximum effect if she's not on your hitlist), would you honestly seriously walk in there and tell the people at this club how terrible you think she is?
