I thought the 2 Raktavijas were easy sleazy if you have the right equipment and setup on them.

Main thing is getting Slow on both and then Imperil on the one you are fighting. Random Instant Chain is always nice to have and if you can pop an Aegis and Fort beforehand makes it a lot easier. Once one of them is dead it is pretty much a cake walk. I would probably main Lightning on this one to help get them to 999% when staggered so Fang can go ape shit.

I used Light/Fang/Snow, stuck Snow on fulltime SEN with magic damage reduction and they can't break his Mediguard. You will need to heal Light and Fang occasionally but otherwise just buff/debuff/slaughter. Very simple. And yeah, spam Army of One when one is staggered. I took out each one of them in a single stagger (barely).

    EDIT: More detail,

    Snow:

    Witch's Bracelet *
    Witch's Bracelet *
    Witch's Bracelet *
    Entite Ring *

    a lil overkill!

An Adamantoise just dropped a Fortisol when I got a 5 star rating... first time I've ever seen that!

How much money (roughly) is needed to buy all of the stuff needed for Treasure Hunter outright, assuming you are willing to dismantle anything, including Genji Gloves? I know this is a horrendously vague question but since I am now 0/26 on Long Gui Traps for 0/160+ overall, I don't see myself having the patience to farm 6. Just want to get this over with at this stage, and I have a rather large cashpile from notTrap drops...

    EDIT: Fuckyeah, 1/176 Trapezohedron!

Yeah, really. And I could be wrong as I haven't done all the extra content but you don't kill Titan or anything, so there's always room for expansion to bigger more dangerous mobs around.

I've just started farming the Adamantoise in Eden using the death method and I'm just wondering what you guys did with your first trap?

I'm deciding between upgrading Taming pole and start to move away from the dull death trick of farming or upgrading one of the other weapons to to * to dismantle and get 3 traps back and then farm a crap load more gil.

I'm 1/5 on ingots and 0/5 and Traps and I hope my luck is going to be better than Raen's!

Haha yes, let's hope yours is

Put it this way: even with my luck, it's not worth doing the 3x Trap thing (unless you are PURELY going for completion and are not trying to pimp out your chars; I intend to make 6 * tier 3 weapons).

I'd use your first Trap on Fang. She becomes truly obscene with Kain's Lance (not that she wasn't already but Jesus)...

Btw, you can probably kill the Adamantoise in one stagger as soon as you get 2800+ STR on Fang and her SYN role (or Vanille's, but less effective).

You just want to zerg down the legs after you have Imperil/Deprotect/Deshell on them (Highwind will decimate them at a decent Stagger %). As soon as it falls down, switch to a paradigm which includes Fang as SYN, someone as SAB (I prefer Vanille) who can use Deprotect/Deshell/Imperil and someone as RAV to start building chain. Make Fang use Faithra/Bravera + Haste on the RAV first (one or other of Faithra or Bravera), then Faithra + Haste on Vanille (change if different char if necessary) and finally Bravera + Haste on herself. You should have Haste up already but this is to make sure it doesn't die midzerg.

Then switch to COM/RAV/RAV as soon as debuffs are up and zerg it to 999%. Switch to COM/COM/COM if you have it and continue to ravage it, Highwinding just before it goes down.

Long Gui are a tiny bit more complicated to zerg but nothing amazing, but you'd be surprised how easy Adamantoises actually are.

EDIT: Or maybe that's because I've killed hundreds of the things. Who knows... I did go 2/177 Trapezohedron though!!

I'd hold off on Long Gui's until either A) you get one trap to upgrade Fang or B) have most of your characters fully done on Crystarium. Actually, you might want to be more aggressive because the Long Gui Trap drop rate is way better than Adamantoises
tbh, you dont really need to have a trap to kill Long Gui's. i accidentally changed them over really early, so i had the misfortune of having to learn to kill them w/o great weaps.

i currently have Fang with the 2nd level of bladed lance (lv36 or so), Lightning Helter-skelter lv56 and Hope Oribitsu(sp) lv 30. with only 1 str+ accessory on Light & Fang and these things die in 8 mins / 2 knock downs.

idk if i skipped over it, but make sure to always cast Poison on the long gui's when they are down. Imperil first, then Poison lands easier. Poison drops their HP by ALOT. also, after imperil, go back to syn/syn/syn for enfire and these things die super easy. you can easily drop its HP by about 70% just from the first knockdown. when he gets up with low HP, he seems to use his moves quicker. He will go Roar -> Ultima with pretty much no pause between them. then he will just use Ultima alone, then back to Roar -> Ultima. when his HP is low, try to take the legs out asap, because its easy to get stuck in a healing/catch-up mode.

again, make sure to Poison Long Gui's when they are down. for the Shaolongs, like someone said, imperil -> enfire -> chain 999 -> rape

I at first had more trouble with the shaolong's, but they are easy too as long as you zerg it down

like i said in the beginning of this post, dont worry about the trap right now. i have gotten so many of them from killing Long Gui's. dont waste your time on Adamantoise

Long Gui: VERY simple once you SLOW the main Long Gui. It attacks stupidly slowly.

Also get Enfire up before you fell the last leg for the sake of saving time (it has a long duration).

Shaolongs are easy when you get COM/COM/COM and just melt as long as they are fully debuffed and you have Enfire. Bravera just makes them get destroyed (note they are highly resistant to magic, so even Hope/Vanille are better off meleeing - and with Bravera+Enfire, do ~140k a hit <_<).

Shaolongs are bloody annoying when they just spam Bay though <_>

also forgot to say, Shaolongs are susceptible to Daze. so you can do that and buff up/heal up

oh, that was you? lol. shit, 3/178 is horrid.

i have gotten too many traps, not enough ingots. after they changed to Long Gui's, i got a trap about every 2-3 i killed. and thats with Collector's Catalog (common drop)

Well on the bright side, I easily have enough money to keep fully upgrading these tier 3s as the Traps drop <_<

I don't know how you have such bad luck Raen. I just got my 11th trap when I got bored of the cieths and farmed platinums for a bit. And I stopped using rare item catalog at 6 traps too x.x

Me either <_> final count is at 4/232 (~50-60 Long Gui I think) and decided to just dismantle Genji Gloves for the last two. Just need 3,100,000~ gil for the Platinum now! Using the zone outside Edenhall with the row of Sacrifices and soldiers since I never want to see another turtle again.

EDIT: For any of the paranoid types among you, the majority of my farming took place at The Eastern Tors in The Archylte Steppe, if you're looking for somewhere to avoid

I've had a run through the 3 long gui , 4 shaolong, and 1 adamantoise in that area where I got 2 dark matter, 2 traps, an ingot, and 2 gold nuggets, so I wouldn't exactly call it a place to avoid.

You've just had unbelievably bad luck.
