Is it normal to go 0/30+ on adamantortoise? I have both catalogs equipped and I am 5 starring every fight. I have maxed out a 4th job role for everyone and still no trap.

From what I understand the catalogs don't stack. But yeah some people seem to have really bad luck with traps...I had 7 by 30 kills though <_<

I was told same catalog won't stack but I have 1 of each. I almost have enough gil to buy a trap and do the upgrade/dismantle to get 3 thing so I'll probably end up doing that unless one drops in the next 10 kills.

When can I level my crystarium past level 4?

Edit: bah figured it out, I'm on Crystarium level 8, but my characters only can progress to level 4. It gets expanded after I beat bart in Oerba, which I'm almost to in chapter 11.

Do you mean roles past level 4? Thats after beating the game.

So I just updated my PS3 to the v.3.21 and now my FFXIII file won't load. It goes as far as the loading screen with the scrolling story catch up but just keeps loading. Than it kind of freezes my PS3 in a black screen if I try to "quit game" or "turn off system". Anyone else having this problem? or have any suggestions about what I can do to fix it?

Thats right, like I said level 5 is after the final boss. You reload your save and it puts you right before the final boss withe expanded crystals.

So I haven't done the math yet, if you haven't don't worry just trying to save myself the trouble:

Has someone done the math on bomb cores? I have an insane amount from farming for haste boots, is it actually better to sell them than to just use them directly for upgrading? They seem to be a pretty high amount of exp for the amount of gil you get if you sell them.


Edit:

Ok just looking closely I noticed a couple things:

First, I wasted a bunch of bomb cores cuz you can only hold 99 at a time lol, it won't start a 2nd stack.


Second, selling 99 cores gives me just under 60k gold. Using 99 has a "base" of 64k exp.

So I could sell and buy a reactor and get 44k exp + 10k gold, or use and get 64k exp... using definitely seems better, am I missing anything?

question: i'm on chapter 12 in eden @ leviathan's plaza, i want to make sure i dont miss my chance to go back to gran pulse to finish farming up the hunts and get my crystarium upgraded

Once you get into Orphan's Cradle at the start of Ch.13. It's really obvious. You can't miss it. There's a cutscene when the portal opens, iirc

^ This. If you want the ending to be somewhat of a challenge, go straight through chapter 13 until it's over and then head back to gran pulse.

I know this has been talked about a bajillion times, but after a day and a half of farming in Eden, I got my first Trapezohedron...so I guess I'm being very very cautious about how to spend it to maximize its worth.

I found this list hereto turn Vanille's weapon into her max, and to desynth into 3 Traps.

To do this, pick up a Mistilteinn, one of Vanille's weapons, buyable from
Plautus's Workshop for 11,000 gil. Along with this, you will need the
following materials:

159 Sturdy Bone \
89 Superconductor \ Total gil:
2 Particle Accelerator / 1,507,400 gil
28 Ultracompact Reactor /

1 Scarletite - (bought for 100,000 gil from "The Motherlode", or farmed
from enemies. See "Obtaining Catalysts" section.)
1 Trapezohedron


Now, use the following items to upgrade the Mistilteinn in this exact
order (for best cost effectiveness)

36 x Sturdy Bone
50 x Superconductor

1 x Scarletite

36 x Sturdy Bone
2 x Ultracompact Reactor
15 x Sturdy Bone
27 x Superconductor

Is this the general accepted way to gain more traps? Or is there another method I should be aware of?

Edit: Add on question. How much CP does it give for beating the final boss (round about, doesn't have to be exact obviously)

There is no CP for the final boss.

How you get Traps is totally up to you. I personally needed Traps, money (plat. ingots), and CP. As a result, I just ended up farming up the six Traps I needed. There's nothing wrong with farming your CP and money elsewhere (ex. perfume farming), and if that's something you want to do then dismantling for Traps works great.
