I have glasses, thank you
I don't care about kings. I'm with Draylo on this one... it's just annoying to hear Mojo and now yourself trying to argue the justifications of botting. There are no reasons other than selfishness & greed. It's a competitive game so those things are going to exist, but cheating is cheating and people don't have to fucking like it. And before you go with the typical cop-out, no I don't use windower.
It's sad that every thread on botting (or RMT, as an aside) goes this way. Shame people couldn't listen to Sono and keep this reasonably civil.
Whoever was talking about Einherjar drop rate, think my LS has seen 4 or 5 e-bodies now in six months or so? Not sure when they started Einherjar as I wasn't there at the time. But in a short space of time, it's been reasonably good to us. A-bodies, on the other hand... Q_Q
ITT: The last remaining anti-botters have gathered together to form a circle-jerk of PURE U-MAD. This is a rare occurence indeed, and will forever be remembered as DAY OF U-MAD.

Linked botting, or botting? The two are vastly different. And actually, normal botting isnt that much of an advantage. As aikar said if your PC isnt a shit piece, then you will be able to cast often.
Botting helps on the days that aery gets really laggy, sure. But on a normal day the advantage is not enough to sit here and QQ like draylo is, get the fuck over it.. just kill darters and spam lol.
If only I've been in an LS that treats botters as harshly as yours. However on this server, botting really is the only way LSes go when they deem themselves worthy to compete at kings (and Cerb/Khim sometimes). Then again I've met various people that would swear to sun and moon they wouldn't bot, and end up taking part in it anyways.
Regardless of the time/era of FFXI, from 2003 to 2010, I've seen nothing but botting HNM LSes in some form or fashion once they go kings, from self made bots to those being 5000$ paid for. Why pay so much for a bot, I have no clue... that's like a very cheap, semi-busted up car or rent for 4~8 months. that being said, I hate botting, but learned to live with it in the various LSes i've joined.
At the end of the day, I can see why people bot-- JP will always have that lvl 5 bot on like clockwork @ Aery.
And that is what I meant by assuming that it was fair before botting. You seem to think that somehow the game would be be fair if people didn't bot. This is so far from the truth it's startling to me that people even think this. Even if every bot on the planet was suddenly destroyed, it still wouldn't be fair or even close to it. Maybe this will make it a bit more clear....
Back in the days, before the delay timer for HNMs existed, there were three major factors in claiming success - where you lived, how fast your PC was, and whether or not you played on a PS2. Living closer to the servers yielded a lower ping time. Consequently, JP players had a tremendous advantage by default. Beyond this, if your computer was shitty and had trouble rendering everything, you wouldn't even be able to see the mob before it was claimed (i.e. popped claimed). Thus, those who could afford a quality computer had an advantage over those who could not. Lastly, there is a tremendous difference between the way the PS2 and a PC render the game. It's something like the PC has five data layers to process through before a mob shows up on your screen while the PS2 only has three.
To be honest, I'm not completely clear on what the last part of that means, it's just what I've been told. However, I can vouch for it being accurate to some degree. I had a PC and a PS2 and tried claiming various things on both. Even with a decent PC, nobody could compete with me (even myself on another character) when I was on the PS2 as long as there weren't too many people around (lag seemed to fuck the PS2 claiming ability over moreso than the PC.) I got LoO for about a month straight by myself on the PS2 against typically 8-10 other people. It eventually got to the point where other players would leave when I showed up. It wasn't because I had some fancy bot (although many of them thought that I did,) it was simply because the game favored the PS2 in that situation for whatever reasons.
That's old news though, the patch eventually came along and changed a lot, although the core factors are still at work. As Aikar said, lag can still be so bad that you essentially have no chance. Thus, again, people with better computers have a better chance at claiming. Latency is an issue, sort of. If your ping times are more stable, then the delay you have to wait before trying to claim is more consistent. PS2 players kinda got screwed over. You're equal, at best, with other players.
Thus, despite the claim delay, there is still retarded amounts of bias based simply on how the game runs on different platforms. FFXI-App was nice because you could set a claim based on when your computer received the packet. It alleviated the PC burden but because of the claim delay and latency (i.e. a luck shot) a fast PC was still on par with it. Wizbot is not a packet bot, but it does read from the memory and that is a bit faster than just trying to claim manually.
So yeah.. the system is pretty much fucked anyways. Look at it realistically. In order to compete, you either buy a nice computer or get a bot. One these choices is against the ToS while the other is not, and you will still "block people from content" by doing either one.
Volume falls under the HNM shell that does Ein category. I'm talking about shells that you can join for just Einherjar which are hard to find. I don't want to join Sea, Sky, Dynamis, Limbus, whatever runs just to do Einherjar. Not sure where Nephilim falls(I don't think I know anyone in there).
