why should i just sit there and reap rewards from people in my shell that risk their accounts? why should they put forth effort to get me gear that i did nothing to earn?

This is fucking hilarious. You care enough about the content to spent time bitching on an internet forum when you have a simple solution availible, get a bot. SE won't remove or change the world spawn content in all likelihood (thats not to say they they won't eventually add ridill/D ring to another system) so why the fuck are you still bothering, are you really so stupid?

Most people bot to get gear faster or to contribute to the linkshell more (either because you get more points for doing so or because you want the linkshell to be successful).

I was on the bandwagon back when I was a noob before I got a job to 75, I hated bots because a bunch of other people I had met in game all said how it ruins the game blah blah. The second I got into a decent linkshell that was established and had success I learned that botting is just common sense if you're going to go to a camp for ~3 hours.

I think its a shame the system is so badly designed that it is so easy to corrupt, but it is that way and if you aren't prepared to do whats necessary to make it worthwhile then shut the fuck up and hope for something better in ffxiv.

I'm defending it? My first post was telling you to stop complaining on a forum, and kill darters + spam. If you bring enough people who spam, eventually you will claim your share. If you have someone on your server with a linked bot, tough luck, they will (on average) claim more often than people without one, but thats how HNM goes. Its not impossible, just harder for non botters.

My posts were all pertaining to the topic here, not complaining really, just stating my opinion. Just like these people are coming here bragging about their bots, why not tell them "umad" or any other dumb crap. Exactly, that is what my opinion on botting comes down to.

What? I agree that using a bot when everyone else is is commonsense if you want to claim. Not botting is the state of normalcy, on the ground, getting on the bandwagon is botting. That's all I was saying.

It's a system of assumptions and undeniable anxiety. Ever does the fear of someone else botting linger, and thusly, others will undertake the task of botting as well, to overcome the fear of being left behind. There is no way to stop it. Stop trying, start botting, or quit the game.

You can claim without a bot, just not as much. But most are of the opinion that if you are going to spend multiple hours camping you should come prepared. Linked camping botters will usually beat non botters. Sometimes non botters won't get bounced and will occasionally claim.

You choose not to bot? Ok. But you should realize that complaining about it while maintaining your anti-bot mentality is rather silly if you aren't willing to attempt to even the playing field.

Because bots make claiming on mediocre PCs possible and because bots are generally much more convenient than all of the other shit you have to do to be competitive otherwise.
