Congratulations, you do that every time you push the login button. God, you'd have to be unbelievably dense and stupid to actually believe what you just posted.
"I should decide on my own what I'm going to do in every possible situation and neglect all agreements, contracts, rules, laws, and/or rights of other people, because they are other entities."
Not sure why people are trying to argue that botting doesn't give you an unfair advantage and is directly in violation of the ToS because it does and it is.
Whilst SE says its wrong and they make the rules, you aren't going to get caught and its not exactly crime of the century (ib4 some analgy that applies this way of thinking to murder, rape etc). At the same time I'm not going to pretend I do it for non-selfish reasons because even after I got all the gear I wanted from kings I enjoyed doing it to prevent rival linkshells from claiming (aswell as helping other linkshell members get gear).
Ancile being Unspeakable seems very plausible as he is definitely stupid enough
Your wrong. Speaks is IP banned from BG and doesn't have an account here, (b4 you post that i must be speaks or some other guy is him) I know this because hes been on my MSN since we where on Ragnarok. Not trying to start a argument with you and i don't have any argument or hate you just don't want the finger pointed at the wrong person.
You're delusional if you believe the majority of people who press that button aren't doing so just to get by the screen and simply retarded if you're actually encouraging a by-the-letter interpretation of the ToS (or any other set of rules, laws, or guidelines for that matter.)
I never said it was him, just that they are both a similar level of stupid so it would be perfectly believable if it turn out to be true. I say this because he believes that if they removed any reason to bot from the game then ffxi would end and that arenz is better than ffxiapp was which are easily the most retarded things in this entire thread (and thats saying a lot).
The vast majority of people have a dynamic IP and even if thats not the case its extremely easy to disguise your IP.
On topic: Mojo the ToS are effectively the law of the game, stop trying to make it more complicated than it is. When you log in you agree not to break these rules, this includes any form of 3rd party software. Just because they aren't reading the ToS every time they log in or have it memorised doesn't mean they aren't agreeing to play within the parameters defined by SE.
This "morality of botting/not-botting" thing is a bit silly when it's not just a simple set of ethics being discussed. Right or wrong, SE can ban your account for whatever reason they like, and botting is one of those reasons. We can be pretty damn confident that SE can't tell who bots outside of doing some retarded afk-claiming action, but if they did find out exactly who was botting and banned them for it, well, the fear of that is enough to make some people not bot, regardless of this whole "lolethics" thing. Letting someone decide what's right or wrong for you takes on a whole different light when one party has a banhammer to wield, and the other party has pretty much nothing. I doubt SE can find out who is botting, but hey, by comparison, Salvage dupers probably thought they were safe too.
I would prefer Arenz over kaces, and any other bot anyday, if you knew anything about either bots you would know how kaces is, its very sketchy useing it due to the fact he has features that will pos hack/shout words in say ect. Arenz also better features

Arenz has no automatic stagger of times so unless someone is going to sit there and calculate all the times then go for it, personally I wouldn't want to spend a shitload of $ or gil for a bot that doesn't do that because its easily the most important feature. I don't think Kaces would have sold to nearly as many servers if he was somehow injecting POS commands or making you /shout stuff to get people banned unless they tried using the bot without owning the rights to that server. If he has done this to people I'm sure they were asking for it.
As for dramafinder and unspeakable, any player that goes around boasting about how much they rmt and scam is a blatent moron.
@Mojo: If you were being realistic you would accept that botting is wrong in every sense but we do it because we won't get caught and from a moral point of view its not causing us any sleepless nights.
This thread is everything I had hoped it would be.
The problem is with the way you so casually use the word wrong. You're implying some sort of ethics with this (and really these are the only grounds on which people would be complaining anyways.) What is it again that makes botting wrong? If you're going to cite fairness, reread the last few pages of this thread. It's been gone over thoroughly and I don't really feel like going over the same old thing again. If your answer is ToS, it's invalid because ethics are relative to cause and effect not rules and laws.
I have to agree with Fottiti on this one as cool as arenz is i like KAces alot better because its user friendly and i don't have to type a god dam command for ever thing i do.
Kaces does how ever have a fail safe, the person w/ rights can request to have there username banned and thus If someone kicked from the LS tries to log on the bot to mess with times you could be in a shit load of trouble.
I have not seen it before but a friend of mine provided me with a screen shot :D

When you log in to final fantasy 11 you agree to abide by the rules set out by Square Enix. When you use ANY third party software to alter the game play you are doing something that is directly violating the rules you agreed.
I'm not going to sit here and type out a 10 page essay defining all the ways something can be "wrong" because its already been outlined by the terms of service. You are playing Sqaure's game and not your own, they define right and wrong in concordance with the laws of your host country/state. I never said anything about ethics because you can just not have any, the same goes for morals.
I've got a feeling you will just repeat the same "what is wrong?" arguement so please define what you think is wrong and we can go from there. Most people who do bot will admit it is wrong simply because it does contradict the rules you agree to, I don't see why are you so desperate to sanction it.
To get the ball rolling, I think murder, stealing, rape and taking illegal drugs are all wrong. They are all illegal in every country I've ever visited and even though I don't have a moral/ethical issue with taking illegal drugs, I do understand that the law of the land I choose to live in says its WRONG.
