i don't know whats going on in this thread anymore.
I feel like any thread even remotely about botting always ends up going the same way.
Easy to figure out why, botting is blatantly cheating and against the ToS, there are people who hate it and speak out against it and there are people who love it and think it's stupid not to do it and they have a mudslinging contest and then it generally degrades into whose linkshell has the best bots and who can claim the most mobs.
It's a natural progression.
Botting is the most fair way of doing kings without instancing the zone. SE intended the gear to be rare, just like they did not want everyone to have a relic.
There is zero skill to the current claim system because of the anti bot randomize claim time. I would hate to have to be glued to my keyboard every for the exact same thing the bot does, just because its morally right. Kings are an imperfect system, you can't expect players to simply accept it.
So lets say I want to antagonize this person.
1. Fair? Subjective meaning.
2. If Fair = Equal claim chances ceteris paribus bar botting, then no.
3. The "SE intended" argument. You must be a psychic pokemon.
4. Windows make "glued to your keyboard" the nightmare, not the reality.
5. Lots of things are arguably imperfect systems. Does everything imperfect imply a necessity to disobey the rules? I won't say it doesn't, but I would like to hear your defense of your statement.
It was mentioned back there that its next to impossible for SE to detect if someone is botting for a claim but couldnt they just make a fake pop occur into memory or something so that only the botters would cast? Or is it all visually based for bots?
I love these arguements. They make my day. All the "u mad" comments are to be expected and I'm sure there's going to be more of them before SE finally shuts down the servers.
Here's how I see it.
I disagree with botting. Fullstop. Totally disagree. However - when the vast majority of other players at HNM camps are doing it you have to put aside your morals or go to the very back of the queue of people wanting that particular piece of equipment.
Botting is a commonly accepted way (by the majority of the playerbase in HNMLS) to claim these days and people who say otherwise lead a very sheltered and innocent life.
When I started camping HNM's I thought no-one botted. Seriously. I was in a HNMLS that didn't bot and I believed that other people were just a lot faster than me at claiming. By the time I mashed my macro it was too late, the mob was still a second or two from popping on my screen and was already claimed. Once in about 30-40 attempts we'd claim a HNM but the majority of the time we didn't. I think it was an Adamantoise, which is debatably not much of a HNM but we got it anyway.
At DA and BD we might as well not have turned up.
Pissed me off a lot to be honest. I had a few "u mad" moments (in DA particularly) complaining that people shouldn't be allowed to bot to anyone who'd listen. I even GM'd a couple of people I suspected were doing it. The GM's asked for proof and I didn't have anything other than "They claimed it before it even popped on my screen!" which really doesn't cut it for a GM....obviously nothing was ever done!
That first HNMLS broke up after a few months and I applied to one of the bigger HNMLS's.
When I was accepted it became pretty obvious that there was a bot being used and my eyes were opened. Everyone was using it. Everyone in the LS I was in and everyone in the other LS's competing against us. It became so obvious I felt like I was having a 'Matrix moment' where all of a sudden my eyes were opened and the truth was right there for me to see. I was so biased about not using it that I didn't realise how widespread it actually was.
All those people who were casting instantaniously at HNM camps weren't faster than me. The processors in their PC's were faster than me. That's what it came down to.
Why do I think people bot? Because every other halfway serious HNMLS does. That's what I think it comes down to. It was always going to go that way the day the first bot was released. To get a 'level playing field' everyone did the same thing.
Why would you spend 3 hours of your life in DA/VoS/BD knowing that your claim rate would be total crap if you didn't bot against the other LS's that did? I very much doubt anyone with half a brain would do it.
HNMLS's that don't claim don't stick together. They split and the members end up in established botting shells because they want the gear.
All the major endgame LS's bot. Fact. Get over it already. It doesn't matter which bot they use, the fact is they use one or another. Any established HNMLS leader that says otherwise is talking out of their ass.
The arguement that there's some degree of skill (or lack of it) involved is laughable at best. The LS's that bot only bot for the claim. The skill comes in the killing of the mob, not the claiming.
I still think it's wrong but it's just how it is and I accepted that a long time ago.
You're a jealous piece of shit, because you had no balls to stand up to SE you robbed everyone of their money, not even a refund what a fucking worm you are, and yeah your old customers got redirected to me guess what, I still get minimum 20+ customers per day, and the packet bot is still selling despite the shit you posted, how do you like them apples?
P.S. Special delivery incoming.

This thread is suppose to be about w1z's bot not a general discussion on the moral/ethical use of bots in the game. Get back on topic or this thread will fail, kthxbye.
I think we are in need of a robocop. Put the bot down and nobody will get hurt.
