The most important decided this week was rights Blizzard gives to players of the game. The company is allowed, according to the decision, to defend those rights against individuals that would allow players additional privileges.

Usually the plaintiff who is suing proceeds only when they feel that they can win, I don't think SE will gamble on a case where there's a chance it will lose.

I'm not talking about the playerbase. I'm talking about SE. 150 per server x 15 servers with average of 2 mules per account is over $30,000.00 a month in revenue for SE. So they risk losing quite a bit of income, after spending over a year in legal battles? That would be silly and definitely would play into whether or not SE would pursue the case. The HNM scene tend to be the most hardcore, long-term players, risking the loss of these possible 5+ year cash cows wouldn't make sense over a silly bot.

They could only want to make an example out of said parties to inform the rest of the world that tampering with them has consequences which would have implications beyond just FFXI and its "final years."

You realize the ruling is available online, right? Don't you think maybe you should go read it at some point? I don't think you can cite Kotaku in court if you end up there, so it may be best to go read what it actually said (Hint: Not what you think it did).

No it is Wiz. SE sent him a cease and desist letter as they did Maury with app and he preceded to tell them that he has immunity he lives in Switzerland. Then he continued to tell SE that it was a learning tool for xi not a claiming bot. See previous post down syndrome, etc.

Wiz chose to ignore the C&D so there is reason enough to move onto Phase 2 if SE chooses to do so.
