yeah that thing sucks ass...i have to use my 2 shrouds to kill it fast...use any lightning absorbing equipment to make the fight easier as well
Why are you trying to do it with those 3? I would suggest putting a SEN in there, it makes the fight a lot easier. Thats what I had to do during the story to be able to beat it.
Wait till later in the game, when it first opens its nothing but rapeage.r
What?
Edit: Anyways I'm thinking bout skipping this one is there any penalty for skipping and coming back later to do it?
What chapter are you on? Because after Ch. 11 that fight was cake.
Miasma is your biggest threat here, use gear that protects against the most annoying status or if you have some Auto-Veil items, use them here, as that greatly lowers your chances of being hit with ailments. After that, the way you fight is up to you, you could buff up and manually overwrite auto-Veil with a normal one (lasts longer). Debuff if you want, but unless you're quick about it, I wouldn't worry. Triple MED incase things get hairy or you got hit with an ailment. Keep shell up and barthunder, they greatly reduce damage of his most dangerous move.
Apart from that, chip away and stagger him, rape him with Ruin afterwards.
I'm on chapter 11 right b4 Oerba
Lightning, Sazh, and Vanille is the exact setup I used during that fight and I beat it during the course of the story with no overleveling. Just open the fight with Light and Vanille as Medic and Sazh as Synergist. Sazh will buff the party with barthunder and various other buffs, then switch to Light -> Com or Rav and Sazh -> Rav and go to town. You can go back to med, med, syn if your buffs wear. Barthunder and lightning damage -20% relics are the key.
He loves to spam Levinbolt, so as said, Barthunder + as much lightning/magic resist you think you need from accessories. It's a long fight, but with the right gear it becomes very manageable.
Not true, I beat him before Crystarium 9, but of course it wasn't an easy fight.
He's in no way whatsoever unbeatable at that point in the game, he can actually be pretty easy if you do it right
He can't be debuffed, so Vanille is more or less useless
That means you should be using Lightning Sazh and Hope
Use a Fortisol/Aegisol at the start to save time, start in MED MED SYN (Sazh as the SYN)
Use a Librascope immediately (Not the tech! Librascopes give you full information right away)
If done correctly Sazh will give you Barthunder. If he doesn't, he will after the first Levinbolt.
This is key to surviving the rest of the fight. Keep Shell, Haste, and Barthunder up on everyone at all times.
After that, he won't be using Miasma for a while, so you can go into Diversity to heal up, and Tri-Disaster to build stagger.
After the first stagger he starts to use Miasma some more so you may want to stay full time in Diversity or even something like Convalescence to keep up Barthunder/Shell and get Esunas on people
Renew is really good for early in the fight too, if the first Levinbolt rapes you too much.
Really, it's not that bad.
I went back to complete this mission after finishing the main story, and for the life of me cannot remember how to get the elevator to go from the apex to ground floor. Apex one only goes to 6, and the "main" one on the 6th goes to all floors. Wtf am I missing?
edit: nvm got it.
To clarify, to pop this mark you need to ride the elevator from the top to the bottom in one ride. To do this, you talk to the statue on the apex level, which will summon an elevator. Ride this down, and talk to the statue you find there.
I think I beat this fight with Lightning/Fang/Sazh.. which is crazy because that means the max my heals were doing was about 300-400 tops, Haha. I just basically burned him down, really. No overleveling either. I mean.. I had "Cure" on Sazh's medic and that's it.. so yeah. Fang didn't even have RAV at this point.
