    Mission 64 - The Doomherald

Anyone else enjoy this fight? \:D/

anyone got tips for getting 5 stars? my characters have yet fully complete the 3 additional jobs aside from their mains. Take it that's a good place to start?

I found that the only way to do this realistically and get 5 stars is to have at least Sentinel maxed or somewhat close on all 3 of your party characters

I can't really go into detail for two reasons, the first is that I don't have any experience actually getting 5 stars on it and the second is that it's so moody as a fight in itself I have no real strategy to begin with

Poison, Deprotect, Deshell, Imperil, kick the shit out of him with RAVx3, buff/heal when he goes in his shell, kick shit out of him harder if he staggers(COM/COM/RAV or COM/COM/COM depending on who you're using), repeat. SENx3 if you're quick enough for when he does his special move. Might be a good idea to have a MED/RAV/RAV or something on hand to for when he get's <50%.

Doing this when you have the Gold Watch will make it easier, but putting that aside the method I used to five star it included:

    COM/COM/RAV
    COM/RAV/MED
    SYN/SYN/SYN
    SAB/SAB/SAB
    SEN/SEN/SEN
    MED/MED/MED

Always debuff him with at least Deprotect, Poison, and Slow (the more the better) before switching to COM/COM/RAV and going to town. If HP starts to get low, but he hasn't used Impenetrable Aura yet, switch to COM/RAV/MED and keep attacking.

Once he uses Impenetrable Aura, immediately switch to MED/MED/MED, heal up, then SYN/SYN/SYN and reapply any debuffed buffs; Haste, Brave/Faith, Protect, and Shell (taking priority in that order), then immediately to SAB/SAB/SAB in preparation for him to leave Impenetrable Aura. When he does, dispel his enhancements, then re-debuff him and resume attacking with COM/COM/RAV.

For the second half of the fight, where he becomes more aggressive, I'd recommend staying in COM/RAV/MED when on the offense as his attacks start to do more damage. Any time he uses Wicked Whirl, switch to SEN/SEN/SEN as fact as you can, and then to MED/MED/MED if HP is in or nearing the red, before resuming your attack.

When I got my five star, I did this with a fully maxed crystarium for all characters, ultimate weapon for everyone, and using Fang/Lightning/Vanille. I highly doubt that all of that is required, but it does help. Good Luck.

I set up like this with Fang/Light/Hope

SEN/SEN/SEN - Sit with shift menu open, and mash this when he goes for Whirling Wind
MED/MED/MED - post-Whirling Wind, or immediately when he puts up barrier to cap everyone's HP
SYN/SYN/SYN - rebuff when barrier is up
SAB/SAB/SAB - dispel, poison, deprot, deshell, imperil spam when barrier comes down
    COM/RAV/RAV - build chain
    COM/COM/RAV - stagger

It's really pretty simple, as hitting SEN/SEN/SEN for Whirling Wind is the only thing you have to worry about. For 5-star I just went with Gold Watch, Genji on Fang and Light, and then as many Imperial* as I could stuff in the other slots.

It's easy to 5 star. I did it with Fang (Pandora Spear), Vanille (Belladonna Wand), and Hope (Hawkeye). Use level 1 items along and no accessories (unless you have the gold watch already). Whenever it comes out of it's shell, spam poison until it lands and let Fang worry about dispel. You'll probably take a bit of a beating during this time, so switch to med / med / com; his attacks aren't too bad so you shouldn't need a sentinel. When it uses the aura shield move, heal everyone up and then switch to syn / syn / syn. And of course, sen / sen / sen whenever it does the whirlwind move. With the gold watch on when I did this, the target time was a little over 20 minutes with the crystarium maxed out for everyone, so it's pretty easy to get 5 stars.

He heals 8 ticks each time, iirc. How much he heals is based on how much damage you've done so far, but when you stagger him with deprot+deshell then you'll put out several million damage in no time.

Same, poison for the win, just equipped some lv1 weapons and accessories. Somehow equipping gimp accessories meant 3 more mins on target time, since I got 3 stars on my first attempt with 18min target time and a clear time of something like 14 mins, which was just pure poison damage win. I just reloaded my save then. Didn't use Gold Watch (since it was my first win on that save), but the target time was 21 something minutes. Whacked it in 11min or so with a little bit of switching to COM/RAV/MED when I at least got poison on and maybe some other enfeebles, but poison still did 80% of the damage.

For accessories I just used -dmg stuff, especially -wind damage and -magic.

Poison is amazing for this fight.

    My Paradigms were: sen/sen/sen medic/medic/syn syn/syn/syn sab/sab/sab rav/rav/rav rav/med/com

    I used Light/Van/Fang(Team vag).

This guy is fucking me up, badly. My team is Fang, Light, Hope. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I can get him down to 60% fairly easily but then his damage output keeps me from doing what I want to do... advice?

Ditch Light and Fang, replace them with Vanille(Belladonna Wand+Bio) and Snow(SEN who never dies).
Make sure to control Vanille, have Snow as perma-SEN, spam Bio till it lands, spam Curaja when needed.
Also make sure to switch to SEN/SEN/SEN when its big-ass attack is coming.

OK, Poison is the tits. I ran with Fang, Snow and Vanille. Only got 3 stars though - any advice for 5-starring it?

Start as sab/med/sab and spam poison until it lands. get deshell/deprotect/imperil also on it
    SYN/MED/SYN get haste/faith/bravery/protect/shell on
RAV/RAV/RAV it and try to Stagger it. If you stagger it, COM/COM/COM. If you really need to heal, toss some cures, but I didn't need to heal myself during this time.

Once it goes into it's invincible mode, heal up to full and rebuff if you need to, then switch back to SABs and get ready to spam poison again once it comes out. Then RAVx3 till staggered and COMx3 till it goes back to invincible.
    Repeat.

After some damage is done, prepare SEN/SEN/SEN for its big attack that I dont remember the name of.

Repeat the same steps as above except be prepared to switch to SENx3 and you might need to heal more.

    also equip Gold Watch.
