I hate 3D, and if I lived in a town where the only theater was showing the movie I wanted to see in 3D, I would drive that extra 30 mins to go to a regular movie. Shit hurts my eyes.

There's a retro theater here that charges the regular $10 for old movies, and it's on a pretty shitty screen, but hella people go there. We saw Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade not too long ago at that place. Have a retro night every week. People love that shit.

There's a small theater I know of that has dinner tables instead of seats, so you order meals while you watch movies. Also, they have beer.

No need to upgrade right away, but whether you bitches like it or not, 3-D is here to stay. It's an increasingly popular trend, and "only one movie has done it right?" yeah, that's true, but other movies are now using that technology.

Movie studios and TV inudstries are pushing 3D hard, they've got the market research to go this hard on it. It won't be a fad with the amount of money invested into it.

I'd say do 1 3D and one not, but then you can't cycle movies like you have been. In my opinion, I think 3D is cool, but I hear a lot of complaints about headaches from it. It hasn't bothered me, but I don't go out of my way to see a 3D movie either.

If most of your customers are regulars, maybe you should put 3D off until if you guys get a second theater.

I'm not saying 3D isn't tight. It's neat when done properly; however, 3D gives a lot of people headaches, myself included and I'm not even old. If the OP has a lot of 40+ customers, 3D might drive them away. I've heard of some people even getting nauseated, and the last thing you want is people throwing up their popcorn all over the place.

We've considered putting 3D in only one screen, but the problem that lies there is the fact that after a movie gets old or stops doing business we move it upstairs to the other screen.. well some movies that will do amazing the first 2 weeks in business are required to have a 4 week commitment, so after it dies down we move it upstairs..

example, when we showed avatar it sold out every show for the first week, but after that it slowly died down. so after the second week we put it upstairs and put the newer more money making movie downstairs. so what happens if we only have the downstairs theatre fitted with the 3D technology. when we move avatar upstairs to the theater without it its gonna be blurry as shit..

I've always been surprised at how many people on BG live in the Gainesville-ish area though. I mean, it's only like, 10? people, but still. Though to counter point that, I'd assume the biggest demography for MMO's are college-aged students.

Just move the projectors/screens when you move the movies, duh

To be serious though, I don't think you would gain much from implementing 3D unless you have a huge crowd that wants it. Personally I find it gimmicky and I also get headaches from it.

If you guys go down the path of getting a second theatre, you could maybe put 3d in one once you recoup the costs of that venture, so that way there would always be the option.
