You should learn spanish, the language of the future American majority.
Because japanese is more immediately useful to me. I have no need to talk or write to somebody in latin at the current moment in time, or near future for that matter.
was more playing the odds that said dude is a douchebag since:
90% of people that want to learn japanese want to because they are weaaboos
and
90% of people that want to learn latin just want to be elitist assholes and talk about how cool it is that they know latin
Why should anyone learn spanish? We live in American and we should only have to speak American. We didn't genocide an entire race to learn a different language
cobol
I want to learn japanese because it has a real use in my future field of work. Also because I have a lot of daily interaction with it. (Anime, games, people, etc.) I want to learn latin because I like the way it sounds, and it's the base for many languages/helps with learning other languages.
If I'm a weeaboo, the hundreds of people I've been seeing today and yesterday at I-con must be super weeaboos. :3 (No, I'm not attending I-con.)
Japanese classes in uni's are weaboo lands, 90% of them get bored after taking the elementary class.
Seriously, don't waste time on something that you won't use, its such a big time/money investment for a mere interest.
edit: this is for the OP, ME languages could help as I see countries like UAE using a lot of foreign engineers and French would be somewhat easier to learn since you are fluent in English.
Chinese...it'd be difficult and I don't think it'd be too useful, most of the Chinese companies are way too global and english should be enough.
I learned Latin in HS mostly to get a better handle on the english language, considering how much of english is derived almost directly from latin (i suppose greek if you want to start nitpicking), not to mention i'm a huge sucker for roman history
sure enough when i took a psych class freshman year i didn't ever have to go simply because knowing latin and definitions made knowing all of the concepts in psych super easy, plus i also have common sense so psych is easy.
edit: looks like farsi, as much as i love the romance languages it doesn't entirely feel like learning a new language (not to say i speak any of them even remotely close to fluently)
Latin is bad ass, i don't know what kind of elitists fuckwits you have learning it near you.
German, its such a powerful and expressive language.
If you want to know how to construct nuclear weapons in order to wipe israel off the face of the map, you can also ask arvin.
lol
