I'm optimistic for Shrek 4. Loved 1, 2 was alright, I completely skipped 3, but 4 feels like it's going back to the roots and should be good for a few laughs.
Anyways, saw How to train your Dragon last night, and I was walking in expecting the story to end like so...
Spoiler: show
I just caught Shrek the 3rd on TV for the first time. I watched about 10 mins here and there before I gave up on it entirely, it was so fucking terrible. One and two were okay.
I really want to see How to Train Your Dragon thanks to the reviews in this thread. When I saw the previews I wasn't impressed but if an animated children's movie can sway the black hearts of this much of BG then I guess I must have been wrong about whether it would suck or not.
My husband and I went to see "How To Train Your Dragon" in 3D yesterday afternoon. We almost didn't go but we had free movie tickets and there was nothing else on we were interested in. We were really glad we went. It's a great little movie. CGI is very nicely done and the 3D effects are very well integrated into the CGI. The story is simple and a bit predictable but still enjoyable and has enough action and suspense. The dialogue is good, it's funny for the kids but still has a few "in-jokes" for the adults. We also thought that the dragon character model designs were very original and nicely done, especially Toothless. He reminded me of my cat too.
I would recommend not going to go see this movie on a weekend afternoon though. My husband and I were the only adults without children and there was a whole birthday party of 8 year olds taking up the entire row behind us. They spent the whole movie gasping, talking, and switching seats. There was nearly infanticide commited.
I have no idea why parents take their kids to movie theatre birthday parties. Seems to be a dreadful thing to do to yourself, all that chaos.
Badass.
I heard about this movie through here.. thanks for the tip! This movie rocked.
