I had a good run last night. I was about 10 games under as far as losses. Fucking scrubs. Hardly got any of them this time thank god.

Couple questions here, when it comes to mages and AP champs who is one of the best to use these days aside from annie ._ .;

I got a friend who's looking to switch up the veigar with others. Been telling him to try Ryze and/or Brand. Good advice? or is there other champs that would be a better selection?
Also I'm a bit curious myself on Runes/mastery's for mages, I guess going into early/mid game builds as well.

There are quite a few AP ranged champs that are very viable. My favorite is LeBlanc, she is SUPER squishy, but she can take almost any carry down with a full combo. (Q, R, E/W) She has great escape potential (her W goes through walls, and she can mimic it with R for two jumps ahead)

Teemo and TF CAN be built AP.... up to you tho.

How good is your friend? Ryze and Brand are definitely good choices, also Malz if your friend is comfortable in mid. If he's a decently skilled player he could go for someone a bit tougher like Anivia.

On my AP champs I go m.pen red, flat cdr blue, mp5/level yellow. I had been using flat health for quints but I just got an mpen set for those so I'm going to try them out and see which I like better. For masteries I go 9/0/21 making sure to get improved flash and both cooldowns. I play Ryze most of the time so I also take expanded mind which I wouldn't on other champs.

Early builds depend on your champ but most are going to start with mana crystal + pots or doran's ring, then build sorc boots, and catalyst, tear of the goddess, or sometimes a sheen. For Ryze I usually rush tear into archangels then get a glacial shroud and a catalyst which turn into frozen heart and banshees. Usually the game is over by then, but if it continued I'd get Rylai's and another archangel, or just two more archangel unless I needed more defense.

I think teemo is best built as AP lol. Brand is a monster in team fights and has great AoE potential. Fiddlesticks in team fights, as well, can destroy entire teams especially if he enters last in battle. Plus his AoE silence and fear really disables teams. Karthus is...hard to use, but i swear, he's a troll hero. hahaha. Morgana is a real beast too with her AoE slow ulti, and AoE damage with her pool. Vlad, even after the nerf, is still good and kennen, if he's considered a mage haha.

I'm always partial to my Kennen as an AP champion. Spectacular lane harass, great AOE damage, potential for a 2+ enemy simultaneous stun. And late game when his damage starts to drop off, throw in a Lich Bane and you become a pushing beast.

Hes talkin about me guys umm, I like Kennen, and am practicing as Ryze atm. I dont like Bird... so Sorry no bird. I like nuking people which is why i played veigar. Ryze seems kinda slow damage-wise. Fiddle sounds fun too O.O so many choicessssssssss.

Best AP casters in the game at the moment would be:

Annie
Annivia
Brand
Cassiopeia (Need a good comp though since she doesn't fit into every team)
Karthus
Malzahar (He got nerfed a decent amount though)
Swain
Twisted Fate
Vladimir

All of these champs are top-tier AP carries. If you can master most of these then you are pretty much golden.

Also, I think if he isn't too comfortable he could try Brand. if I remember correctly he has the most range of the major AP carries. Also, he is a counter to Annie which you normally see in mid if they have an AP carry, in normal games at least.

Jungle fiddle is the most crazy good champ I've had the pleasure to enjoy. Just put one point in everything then level fear straight, and it's practically trolling how good you assist and get kills.

Hmm. I'm not a big fiddles player, but I think I'd definitely level drain before fear.

Nope, you should actually level drain last! My build order is start with drain, then bounce between E and Q until I can't put points into them anymore, then level drain. Fiddle is basically a CC bot. His 3 second fear is pretty OP, you just jump in, ult, and fear and kills are secured.

I usually start ganking at level 3 or 4, flashing in with a fear and letting whomever is in the lane get the actual kill. I've won 7 ranked games this morning with that method,so I feel pretty confident that it works.

dantrag i see you play vayne alot, i was wondering how you geared her.

i just unlocked her, though i got my first taste of her f2p a week before. i really enjoy her play style, just looking for some tips as far as items/runes/masteries go.

so far for items i have been starting with berserkers greaves, then moving on to building madred's bloodrazers, sword of divinity, malady and then wits end. all those items have attack speed and an extra damage proc. in short, am i doin it wrong? haha.

That's crazy. Especially since they just nerfed Drain a few patches ago. Now you actually have to get it to level 5 to reach its full potential. The order should always be Ult > Drain > Fear > Silence.
