Well having minions push with you when you are attacking is a hell of a lot faster to neutralize/capture points than it is to do it by yourself. From a defensive stand point not only do you not want to have them push with their minions but you may as well make a dollar or two while you stay near your point. IMO it is much smarter to push the next point with your minions than to essentially bd a point. The only time imo you should capture a point is after one or several kills where your team has an advantage or take minions to your equal team fight.

BDing is fine when theres no one guarding the points. But if it's being defended minions are very helpful.

they spawn so fast it's usually a waste of time killing minions. There have been plenty of times where I've been able to cap a point w/o minions where I wouldn't have been able to if I was trying to push the waves.

I've taken to pushing a huge wave of minions and using promote before going to another cap. Either the enemy team needs to defend the cap I'm attempting to get or the cap my creeps are destroying. Regardless of how well it works each time, it's guaranteed that at least two of the enemy team is going to need to defend different points to stop me, letting my team pressure elsewhere.

There are only 3 creeps so you can use anyone to push. It's much easier to defend 3 points than trying to take 4. I've been stuck on so many teams that keep trying to push the 4th and watch our 2nd get bd'd all game by an eve or a teemo. Then as soon as one falls back to go cap it, that person ganks the other 2 that are still way too over extended.

Kayle is fun as hell in Dominion
Full AS (except maybe 6th for Hexatech Revolver) lets me camp bot most of the game without problems. Ult for tower dives/sticky situations and come out alive (throw in exhaust if needed). Have had near flawless success at bot with her, not counting enemy team bringing 3 people to kill me XD

Which reminds me, I've come to realize bottom tower is like the new solo lane/jungle, where it is very imperitive they do well. If they are forced to have multiple people come to bottom tower, it leaves windmill (top) wide opened. The better I do at bot, the less my team has to deal with at top. Kayle is certainly not the best bot because of lack of sustain but she pushes well and farms well to get all gear long before the match ends (plus cheap).

Also, minion pushing is good if you don't think you'll have time to grab the tower long enough to do anything. Minion pushing wrecks the tower even without promote.

Oh I understand about helping your minions and pushing with them. But what I have been witnessing is some dudes will stay like in the middle of the lane and wait for the enemies minions to come to them and farm and not advance with his own minions to cap a tower. I've also seen 2-3 teammates chase a single person that just neutralised a point halfway across the map instead of going back to claim the point after the enemy was scared off.

But enough bitching, game is fun though. And surprisingly I have had some success with riven. Mallet+atmas and some MS and push, push, push. Also got my first quad kill as singed. Have them chase you to your turrent, ulti, garrison and flip like mad

I really like Dominion. It's going to be a great teaching tool for learning when to be aggressive and when not to be. It's so fast that you have to know exactly how much damage you can put out on the amount of HP you have left.

I notice that people are barreling into fights on half HP and dying a lot because they're worried about capture points being taken.

What seems to work better? 3 top, 2 bottom, or 1 bottom and 4 top?

4top 1 bottom seemed to work best for me.

this definitely, 2 people with highest boots/ghost run to top to start it while others run up after they finish capping first one

They're both lackluster to me personally. And Mundo used to be my 2nd ever main in this game :/ He may be decent in dominion though.

i usually do 2bot, 1mid (who goes top after cap), then 2 top.

This. The reason is because almost everytime the enemy team will do it this way, so if you instead had 2 bot and 3 top that means those 3 are going to face 4 people, bad odds unless they were a poor selection of champs or played badly. Everytime someone who didn't listen and went bot when someone said they'll bot tends to cause us to lose the Windmill at the very start.

Just like the solo lane, you do not need two people at bot there unless it is imperitive you need to save your tower or sneak attacking to allow capture of theirs. Strength in numbers at top where it is vital to capture. The solo bot should be forcing the enemy to bring reinforcements to help them, leaving top unsecured for your teammates to capture.
