We definitely all have friends like that--

I used to play with a group of 10ish RL friends, but most have dropped off to other games. Or left when TF's ulti got nerfed. One of the one's who stuck around has always been a littlelot pessimistic. Once things start going bad, he practically gives up and doesn't contribute.

One game he was playing Swain and doing very badly (not entirely his fault) and was basically staying next to the towers and only farming when minions came close enough. Rather reasonable, because their Caitlin could three shot him. Problem being, that's all he would do even if a team fight was going on just outside the tower. Finally, after a point that I was running for my life and died right along our base's wall, next to the mid lane tower, I notice he had been sitting at that tower the whole time. And, frankly, a landed Swain bind would've saved my life yet he did nothing. His response to my simple question of, "Why didn't you at least try to help?" was something to the effect of "Why? We've lost already." I came unglued and yelled at him for his repeated whining of "we're gonna lose" and then not doing anything thus it becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy and all that. He responded by rage quitting and removing me from his friends list to play games solo.

I think the more absurd one, though was quite awhile ago. We were losing by a little bit and decided to jump their team at their blue (they were top, so this is just above dragon). We engaged and barely lost. We all died, killed 4 and nearly killed the 5th. Then we noticed our Garen (him), full health, running along past our banshees. He tells us that it was a bad engage and he decided not to help.

I actually sound a lot like your friend. I'm obviously not there in any of those scenarios to give any real insight, but I find that a LOT of players don't understand when they are behind and what to do to get ahead. In the first example you gave you were WAY behind and your friend intelligently farms under the tower. If you are that far behind the only way to get ahead is to keep farming and wait for a mistake(pick a lone person off in your jungle or something) or fight in an opportune team fight. You said he didn't help in a team fight, but unless they were taking damage from baron or they were diving your turret you shouldn't have been fighting right?

Like, I'm reading this thread and everyone is calling EVERYONE they play with retarded or bad. BG can't be full of pros.

In the first example, yes, the game was a mess and there honestly was no way we were going to turn it around unless their Caitlin were to have DCed. And, no, I know I'm not the best player but I never utterly give up and sit under the towers. In my friend's defense, he did try farming outside at least once--and he overextended and got jumped. Part of the problem is, when he's doing badly, he starts to get depressed about it. And when he's depressed, he plays even worse. And gets more depressed...yeah, you get the idea.

My main point is that there is a difference between being safely cautious and being negligent.

Qeo's friends are just bad but he uses them as a reason to not play with BG

Not to defend AD LeBlanc or Crit Garen, but a lot of the current meta is discovered through odd builds and ideas. Who ever would have thought AD Nidalee and Lane Udyr are 2 of the strongest top lanes in the game. You can theory craft all day why they work and why they dont work, but until you test it out and see first hand you never REALLY know if they can change the metagame.

For example, would you have thought AP support usually beats AD support in bottom lane. Or ranged AD counters a lot of top lanes and mid lanes. No, it may not be the current meta but I find not only is it viable to do so; it can be really beneficial. Some top teams are also attempting to build team comps around a 2v1 top lane and 1v2 bottom lane.

Like i said in the post, I know these can work in certain circumstances, the fact that he barely grasps some aspects of the game in the first place, paired for this need to play some out-there build... just doesn't work.

There is the BG chat room, (I think) called BGLoL. Join it with the chat button under your friends list. Then be sure to hit the gear in the chat window and set it to "auto join".

Would be quite fun for everyone to get on a vent and talk shit :O

Plus it would get everyone out of the funk of SR and Dominion grind.

I've come across those builds. I've even had a person go AD Sona once and destroy the other team.

My favorite non standard build atm is Pheonix Udyr mid. Open boots+3/4 pots then rush wriggles to sustain the lane, then get either zerker greaves or mobility boots and either counter jungle their wraiths/red or gank lanes similar to Sion. Once you get a SV no AP can push you out of lane. Then I turn it into the standard Udyr build going Ninja tabi or Merc treads once the team fighting starts. I have yet to have been out farmed or zoned. Kennen is the only person I dont think this would work too well against.

Holy freaking crap, I was playing with shepardG in a drafted 5v5, we get a nice team comp and we lane together the entire game. Apparently our Olaf and Veigar decide to start diving, and so we are losing 5-15 about 25 minutes in, and everytime I tell them to stop diving they just troll to hell. We finish the game with a nice comeback, while our Olaf and veigar continually keep diving and going into the enemy jungle alone, only to finish with double digits death each, while I finish as a tanky-support Sona with 9/1/28. Of course to top that shitty game off, I get booted from the game and I'm welcomed by a nice 20 minute queue

seriously, at one point, were down 5-17 in Kills and we have no turrets. and we fucking come back and end up raping them...... i mean we litterly covered them in paper and put a bow on it, and then started to sing a song in an urban culture type style about how badly we owned them....

They turned and eviscerated him instantly--and his soil got the killing blow on Baron for us. When they came for our towers, we destroyed all five of them. We pushed like mad. Slaughtered them again as we got to their inhibitor towers. Pushed and won, despite being way behind in kills the entire game.

It wasn't really about being behind in kills, since I've had my fair shares of comebacks like those. The problem was that both our carries just kept dying mindlessly by going solo in their jungle when 3-4 of them were missing, and even mid game when I had most of the map warded and I beeped for them to back when I saw a gank coming, they still kept hitting the tower/ running after a bait. They did well on creep kills and my ult was particularly efficient in that game, completely shutting down their team and letting shepardG drop his ult with MF every time, but even then, all the time they spent dead they could've used to push / farm and we could've won a lot faster.

Winning games like those angers me more than losing them, since the bad players ALWAYS comeback in the lobby chat and think they did a good job anyway, when they were actually a huge weight on the entire team (I warded A LOT more than a normal game because I wanted every inch of the map covered so those retards wouldn't run in a trap every 30 seconds, and they still ran in even if they saw the enemy). Some people never seem to learn, and we've had our fair share of teammates that kept claiming we were bossing them around, when the only thing we said the entire game was STOP DIVING ALONE 3V1 or come push X lane.

I also saw that it was mostly carries that had no idea wtf to do in my terrible games, which is sad because most of the time when they don't perform, our team loses, or they don't perform and we win and they think they were the reason for our win simply because they picked a lategame OP hero.

How do normals MM work? I'm lvl 20 and just had a level 7 WW on my team laneing against a 1780 lvl 30 kennen....This kind of thing is starting to happen enough for it to get on my nerves.

It's just like any other matchmaking system where people have friends that they want to play with. It will try to even out levels, but it can't account for everything.
