If someone is a level 30 and they queue with a level 10, it averages them and looks for players around 20. (Oversimplification, but you get the idea.) It also really only can work with what it has available. If the game goes instantly to champion select, it found a match right at your level. The longer it takes the wider the search so they will be higher or lower than you to some degree.

WEEEELLLLSSSS, i got a 15 man vent for 3 months

Not to step on anyone's toes but I thought we could have a BG LoL vent for playing and what not, and i'm not using it for anything else currently

    BGbbq.typefrag.com

and PM or ask in game for the port number (shepardg in LoL), there's no password until people start being retarded...

    BG - pretty straight forward
    BBQ - Bitches Be Quit'n

there's only two rooms but i might throw a couple more in there if we get enough folks playing.
Vent makes calling mia's easy... so heaven help you if you fucking miss one rofl

started playing a lot of ashe recently (loved trax in dota AS, at least she as boss up until like v4.x when i stopped playing) but I can't seem to figure out how to be a great carry like I'm guessing I should be. I usually do fairly well CS early game depending on how the lane shakes out (if I'm with a support or not, who's on the other team, how aggressive their jungler is etc...) usually around 80~100 CS at about the 15:00 mark which I know should probably be higher but should I be using my volley to farm or to harass? there's definitely no mana to support both unless you snag a blue buff or have a soraka in lane. Also, I usually go about x-x-(x+15) for my score, is that a bad thing? I feel like most carries I used to play (akali/trynd/singed) i'd get almost all of the kills with either very few or a medium amount of assists based on how long the game lasted, but with Ashe I usually do a lot of damage but very few actual killshots, is that a bad sign or something I'm doing wrong? I play a very poke-oriented game around mid to late since Ashe is so squishy and of course my cross-map arrows get me some random assists but I still feel like I'm doing something incorrectly.

Ashe is pretty much the worst AD in the current meta, Im not saying dont play her but dont expect it to be as easy to carry with her as it is for any other AD. For CS you want to aim for 80~ by 10 mins, 100 at 10 mins is basically perfect(I think 103 is 100% perfect). You basically never want to use volley to CS unless you will miss a CS because 2 are about to die at the same time.

x-x-(x+15) is much less than ideal. You WANT to be the one getting fed as you are the true carry; yes this means steal all the kills you can get. It doesnt mean youre doing something wrong by getting the assist, it generally means other people were saving an ability in order to land the last hit.(Very bad btw; remember KS = Kill secured).

Dont do cross map arrows; yea they're fun as hell to land but you generally dont have the mana to spend on pure luck based skill. Save it for when you get ganked or when you're getting ganks, an over extended lane with Ashe in it is basically a guaranteed kill with an arrow and frost shot.

May I ask how you normally build Ashe and which summoners you use?

hmm, generally go doran's to start, then boots->BF (rush I.E.), then zeal and usually from there it'll depend on the other team, depending if I need more armor pen or some mres/armor, varies from game to game but usually finish up PD first (get a vamp scepter before finishing PD though) then bloodthirster or banshee's immediately after PD depending how CC heavy the other team is.

and yeah I know cross-map arrows are more for shits and giggles and really not a reliable usage but when i get drunk with friends when we play that's what i usually use the arrows for although catching anyone over-extended is definitely free money after you have ice-arrow.

as for runes, i don't have much, but quints/reds are flat armor pen, yellow-flat armor, blue-mres/level (want to do CDR but I just don't have any yet, next up on the to-buy list)

edit: for summoners i always bring flash, usually exhaust with it and sometimes ignite if really no one else is using it, i used to run ghost but to be honest i found it less helpful than exhaust of course it's been a while since i've played ashe

    22-0-8 i believe

Doran start is only viable if you're in lane with a support who can heal. I feel boots+3 is superior in almost every match up though as you will have the advantage during ganks either for you or against you; not to mention the superior sustain The early level game is all about sustain unless you are running a hard kill lane(Which Ashe doesnt do).

As for your build I feel its a little weak, you need lifesteal before your IE or youll just get pushed out by someone who does have the sustain. My build for Ashe is Boots > (Usually at the same time) Doran + vamp + Zerker > IE favoring bf and axe > Zeal > Phantom > LW > QSS or GA > Thirster.

I also run Flash cleanse as it fixes the 2 things that will get you killed as a glass cannon, positioning and CC. Runes are fine; but flat AD reds and quints are better.

i'm not sure why i never ran 3+boots before, doran's is definitely a hard start but nothing else ever really came to mind for some reason, will probably start running that.

but why the flat ad as opposed to armor pen? i understand the early game CS is very important as well as the flat AD will scale with volley well but i feel like a major problem into mid/late game is armor pen issues? i'll stick to armorpen for now considering i have 0 AD runes and about 200 ip right now but i may opt for the flat AD in the future if it's that much more worth it.

The biggest difference is for csing. Up until about 12 mins you will be dealing true damage to minions without ArmPen so being able to do 15 more damage until then will get you more CS on average. As for damage vs heros it will only be like ~5 damage per shot less; however (Ashe is like the worst example>_>) abilities scale better with AD than ArmPen.

If you're strapped for IP and want to buy other heros the difference isnt that big. I have mine because I used to play Jax alot and already had bought them.

If you don't have DMG reds you probably need to start dorans. Feel free to try without, but I'm feeling like you will have a hard time last hitting. Other than that, shit is situational so use your brain. If im playing against a strange comp bottom that does a lot of dmg or if my support gives up 2 kills under 5 minutes I'll opt for a 3rd dorans for extra hp. If I need sustain I will also build a vamp scepter after 2 dorans, but If I don't then I go straight to BF sword. Attack speed is good, but Ashe's dmg is a little too low and once again you don't have DMG reds so I'd say BF before zeal.

As far as spamming arrows and volly and shit I typically afk farm if I am playing by myself, otherwise feel free to coordinate killing people across the map or zoning/killing/harassing your lane.

So when you guys first started this game did you play it with a locked camera or with the movable camera or some sort of hybrid of both. Locked camera feels most natural but there is so little field of view that way, not sure if changing resolutions/monitor size affects this though.

Victor is out. He's fun. Tough to build. You've got the power core as one of your 6 items, and honestly other than the ability augment portion it's a pretty lackluster item.

You need to have it unlocked. Having it locked on you char will greatly take away your map awareness.

I know why it's better but for me at least it's terribly awkward for what seems natural. That's why I wanted to know about when you first started playing and not later on when things gets serious busines. I've mostly been playing dominion which is much more running around so that may be why having to do it seems much more difficult than if I were in a lane mostly being static for much of the game it would be different.

Learn to leave your camera unlocked, spacebar centers it as long as you hold it down. A static view on only yourself is very limiting. Better to learn early then have to re-teach yourself later -_-

I used to play with it locked, but started to slowly learn to play with it unlocked since being able to look around easily is nice.. Just don't forget you can snap it back to you quickly with spacebar. I do sometimes and then lose where I am.

I only really got lots of practice playing unlocked when I started to play HoN, and learned that's the only way you get it there!

i started with locked then moved to unlocked, but its better to learn unlocked early as possible, as everyone else said.

I play unlocked with a Windowed, smaller resolution. I don't know if you're playing full screen, but whenever I change computers (switching to a bigger monitor that is currently in full screen) I notice a difference in my scroll accuracy and reaction. It may be completely subjective, but I feel like messing with my client size allowed me to play without the camera locked.

And yeah, thumb is always on the spacebar lol

Is it possible to unlock the screen and change the position a bit and then lock it again without centering on your champion? Like If I'm going up I'd probably like to see further up so I would unlock, move my mouse up giving me a few more inches of sight, and then lock that position in so as my champion moves it moves with the camera and keeps that extra sight at the top? If it's possible that could be an easier way for me to transition. Thanks for the help.

No sadly. It would be a nice functionality but there's no way to do what you're describing.

Just watched the victor spotlight. I must have missed it on his unveiling, but just what we need is another slow/stun. There are too many Stuns as it is :\
