Don't play ranked support unless you are gonna duo queue at that elo, cause then you are putting all your faith in the lane in hoping your AD isn't terribad. Play something that can carry, so that if your team sucks you can have a chance at snowballing.

And I've missed my Win of the Day alot recently cause of all the server downtime, shit is dumb.

The mids that I can play efficiently are Morgana (always banned) and Sion (weak vs. a lot of better lanes). I was thinking of starting Ryze or Karthus, actually. I know Ahri is the flavor of the month right now, so I'm avoiding her, but I feel like I can probably do reasonably well at sub-bronze levels with whoever as long as I'm smart about it. I can last hit quite well on any champion that I play.

I'm slowly building IP to get more runes so I can play more roles; since I have only two pages, I'm limited from game to game in what I can do. Probably gonna get the seven-page set once I feel satisfied with what I have.

Here's my profile. Willing to take any suggestions, thanks. http://www.lolking.net/summoner/na/24512766

no need to avoid ahri, she has been nerfed multiple times but is still strong, and is a great mid to wreck with. easy to play and easy to gank lanes with

Way to win low elo solo Que

    1. Strong mid roamer: Sion, Leblanc, AHRI. Do not bother with Ryze or Karthus until you are higher elo as their ability to roam is highly dependent on how good your opponent mid is and how well your lanes are doing.

    2. High DPS top lanes. Kayle, Corki. Do not bother with off tanks as they do well in team fights; but do not trust your team mates to team fight properly. You can basically 1v5 with a fed Kayle.

    3. Ganking junglers that can carry. I do not mean alistar or Naut. I mean Pantheon, Xin(Rapes low elo), Shaco, and J4 to a lesser extent. You want the other team to give up before 20 mins.

    4. Hyper carry bot lanes. Problem here is you need to be able to absolutely shit on your opponents. Kog, Vayne, Corki. Or you can try kill lanes with a duo que(Dont trust randys), J4 Leona will carry you to 1600 easy assuming you duo que with a friend.

Edit: KASSADIN; learn Kassadin and you will wreck people until every lane regularly wards.

I hear some people been using xin mid lately. But on that note you can probably use talon mid as well. Our just going by the old meta and having an AD carry mid, ashe, cait.

talon is a monster mid, it's his only good lane really. xin mid works too sort of in that he just annihilates people when he closes the gap. but he doesn't scale so he is awful

Echoing what everyone said already. You have to be able to carry to win solo queue. You can't count on your team. Assume they will always be bad. If you're not on a champ that will let you carry, you've taken the fate of the game out of your hands.

Personally, I like to jungle, but as someone said above, if a player is bad enough they will find a way to squander any lead you give them. I remember one game in particular where our top lane had given up two kills before I finished my first clear... Mid is probably your best bet if you must solo.

The absolute best thing you can do to raise your elo though, is find someone to duo with. One of you play mid, one of you jungle. Get on skype, coordinate ganking other lanes, contesting enemy buffs, dragons, etc. If you both do you job well it's really easy to carry the other 3 derps to victory.

I think you can carry with supports if you play something that is high impact. Stuff like leona and janna can obviously carry with good engages or disengages, but people tend to not realize that well timed soraka silence on an AP carry or Alistar keeping melee off an AD carry also greatly affect the outcome of teamfights.

I personally think carrying games is about making actual big impact plays opposed to just "winning lane" or whatever people claim they do a lot. Buying oracles, clearing baron, and sitting in a bush - wins games. Buying shurelia and popping it when you spot someone out of place to engage on - wins games. Keeping wards in the right places at the right times late in the game or during team fights - wins games.

All the things you listed as "what wins games " are dependent on the members of your team that actually deal damage taking advantage of what you've done to set up engages for them, which you can't assume in solo queue. They're also all mid/late game aspects of the game. If your team doesn't do well in laning you can't win in mid-game and will likely never see late game.

You want to know what really wins games? Farm. When can you get the most farm? Laning. "Winning a lane" means you got the most farm. Getting the most farm in laning lets you win(as in destroy the nexus/force surrender) in the mid-game and that's what you want to do in solo-queue because the longer the game goes the more chances your teammates(who are probably baddies) have to throw.

Mid is where you carry from. It's the most independent, it's the best-positioned, and it tends to involve champs that have high damage and some CC. This lets you turn the advantage you get in your lane into an advantage in all lanes when you go roaming.

I don't mean to diminish the contribution of supports to the game. A good support turns a good team great, but you have to assume every team will be bad in solo.

    Steps to winning solo queue.

    1. Pick an all around great hero. Something that scales well, is mobile, has very few counters. Use League wiki and do some math.

    2. Last hit. Look at Doublelift. He doesn't always have the best laning phase but he farms like a mother fucking mad man and always closes the gap by mid to late game. So many times I've seen him start at 0-3 and still end up 8-3. Of course, he's Doublelift and is the sole reason for all of Vayne's nerfs but the point still stands! CLG's entire game strategy is all about putting aggression up top so Doublelift can farm the entire friggen game because they know that boy carries them.

    3. Learn how to counter and shut down common solo queue heroes such as Ahri, Soraka, whatever. ie: Never playing AD heavy champions such as Cait or Graves against Soraka bottom, use something like Corki, Kogmaw, Tristana, even MF. Actually, Tristana is rape, just play her all the time.

    4. Play mid or jungle, as everyone says. Map presence and being able to pick up your team's slack from these positions are crucial.

    5. Play every game as if it's only going to last 20 minutes. That means, optimize your builds for the 10-20 minute mark, learn what milestones you should have (gold, items, etc) by each 5-10-15-20 minute mark. The game is very cookie cutter atm, you can reasonably expect your opponent to have a certain amount of CS, dmg, resist, hp by these intervals. Knowing exactly how many actions it will take to kill someone is the difference between wasting a summoner or using it effectively.

    6. Wards. Seriously. Ask your team mates to buy wards, if they don't, buy it for them. Also, call your lane, thanks. ^_^. If you see an enemy ward, communicate this to your jungle and know exactly when the ward goes down.

    7. Change your play style based on what summoners you have available and what your lane opponent has available. Also, learn how to EFFECTIVELY use your summoners and stop wasting them. Learn to use brush to juke instead of always relying on Flash to get out of a situation. A lot of people in solo queue use their summoners at the meer sight of a gank despite how futile it may be, ABUSE THEM.

    8. Learn to play a consistent game. Many things are out of your control, LoL is 5v5 and is chaos theory at it's finest, all you can do is ensure your performance is consistent.
