If Shen or TF is open I ask if anyone wants to play them. If not pick what you want. 90% of people in games will already have the champ they want to play in mind, and the people who bother counterpicking are usually bad with said character and will likely lose lane anyways.
I feel like I have a great grasp of a bunch of different characters, and I'm probably not the only one. If someone picks Ahri or Kennen early, I rape face with Ryze. If someone picks Shen top, I roll them with Olaf. I have a bunch of champs I'm good with that counter others.
I understand skill > champs, but it doesn't make sense to put yourself in a situation to be hard countered. You don't know who's on the other team, chances are good they have a champ/are good with a champ that directly counters yours. Best bet to win is to pick smart.
It just seems very ignorant to assume that the other players are bad. If they're not bad....then you lose.
I think a lot of players over estimate themselves and try too hard to play heroes that are easier to fail with; especially at low elo. For example, I think Vlad is a great pick because it's difficult to do poorly with him but even if you fail his ult provides enough team utility to make up for it. Rumble is great too because of high base damage and will still do lots of damage without good farm. However, heroes like Ahri, that rely on skillshots and have low ap ratios require near perfect play or else you fall off completely. Ezreal falls into this category too, so in that case I'd rather have a Graves or Corki on my team. They're both very forgiving compared to Ezreal. Missing combos results in a complete drop in DPS. Too many stream watchers try to pick and play like the pros instead of picking reliable, well rounded strong champions.
The way I look at it is that they are all, infact, bad, unless they're like 2k+ elo. So unless they are, chances are you can outplay them. If you cant outplay them do you really think that 'hard countering' them will make a large impact, especially if you play said hard counter at a lower elo than the division you're in?
Kisamoo I wish I could count the number of Vlads I've encountered who use the pool offensively at high health in order to poke their lane opponent. And not all free week ones since 1 was a custom skin(Vandal iirc). Still boggles me...
In my experience, having a skin means there is a higher chance that the person is terrible with the character. A skin that is new or newly on sale, doubly so.
._. I can see that being true of a new champ, otherwise skins mean nothing. Except they had some money to throw at riot! Speaking of which, I really need to get the newer Sona skin. It's <3!
*Bashes head against desk* people suck so bad.
Solo queue? :3
I said it was difficult to do poorly with Vlad, not impossible.Vlad's kit is pretty much all you can ask for from an AP; innate tankyness, sustain, low cds, free escape but nothing in this game is idiot proof.
On another note, I fucking HATE free Blitz week. I swear, people run into hooks on purpose.
i run into blitz hooks![]()

lol no, just look at my recent history ;(
just came in to say that mpen singed in dominion is one hell of a time
guise, mpen boots, thornmail, sunfire, abyssal, banshee's equiv is so fun. You're god tier at like 11-14 but game slows down a bit after your 4th or 5th item because you're no longer leveling your base damages up
Finally got back over 1100 in ranked. Trying to get silver before the end of season 2, so maybe 3-4 more wins should do it. if anyone wants to queue I'm available at night today through Wednesday.
