I'm only diamond 4 but I've seen morg destroy games at my level.
Good morgs really kite it out, only engage with shield and back for Q+W opportunities.
I saw a morg just brutalise a 1v3 with that type of disengaging play ( vs a kass/ad/supp ).
Like I've never seen a better morg, it was amazing to watch.
tldr, there are not very many "garbage" champs.
Only olaf really.
I need to watch more LPL. Those two OMG vs Royal matches were exciting, and Uzi being godlike can't be repeated enough. What a monster.
Morg is amazing in the right hands. And is actually an amazing support in some cases too. If you're going against a Leona, Morg can completely negate her combo.
Does black shield stop Leona from dashing? I'm still miffed that on Sivir, even if I spellshield Leona's sword she pulls towards me.
Leona E and Amumu Q are not hooks, they don't displace the target they displace the caster. That's like saying Panth shouldn't move onto someone with spell shield with his W.
They kind of are hooks, because they root the target. If I spellshield Panth's jump, I'm pretty sure it'll negate the stun, which doesn't seem to be the case for amu or leona, the root still happens. If I'm running away with spellshield up, and Amumu runs up and hooks me, I get rooted, his team catches up, gg. The spellshield isn't blocking anything, which is counterintuitive to me. "Oh hey an ability, I'll block it! Oh wait.....I guess I can't block *THAT* ability for some reason..."
They're also slightly different mechanics. Panth is a straight up jump. Amumu and Leona have abilities where nothing happens unless their abilities hit a target. If the target has a spellshield, according to the way the abilities are all worded, the ability should be blocked, thus canceling out any effect it may have, including the root/pull.
Are you sure Leona and Amumu still root/stun with spell shield on?
No you can still move when they hook. You don't get stunned but they still come to you.
I'll have to test it out...but I'm pretty sure. I've played a ton of Sivir, and if I see a Leona or Amu coming, I've learned that popping Spellshield first to avoid the engage is going to do diddly shit for me.
If that's not the case, then it may just be that Leona's E eats the spellshield (which is rendered useless more or less) leaving you open for a Q. This may just make it feels like you were rooted. But I really feel like the spellshield is 100% useless vs those abilities, which baffles me.
P sure Banshees Veil blocks the pull, too, which is supposed to hold the same spellshield.
Watching the Gama Bear vs. SKT. Jesus christ, NL's Varus is worse than mine. It's like he doesn't even know how his own W works with his other spells.
So how is that different than a Blitz pull? I can block that. Shouldn't it just block the damage then the pull still go through?
Probably because the damage is blocked. It probably applies in a certain order of effects, not entire abilities.
I checked a few other champs and it doesn't apply this way for other effects (like slows or silences).
My completely uniformed guess is that it has to do with animations. When the spell lands, the animation needs to have a point where it is going to land in relation to the character that was hit with the ability. If the player can move when this happens it would create disjointed animations. Are there any other pulls that have dissimilar effects?
As for the "why isn't the whole thing blocked" question, I have no answer for that.
