play sion instead and you'll win more games. seriously. bursting for 400 damage at level four is no joke when people have >900 hp
if you use ghost/flash you cannot be outrun in the laning phase.

many ways to build him, it's all team dependant. i usually rush heal so my lane can push infinitely and then we win as fast as possible playing him full support. building auras and starting with mana manipulator if your lane partner has mana. i typically run teleport & clarity. 9/0/21 or 0/9/21 masteries.

his team to victory. you'll have to branch out eventually. it's gonna come along where you're gonna queue up with pubbies who instapick the worst shit ever and if you wanna win you gotta balance the team. that and the current metagame is pretty anti-taric if you ask me(tanky dps doing whatever to whomever regardless of your healing power.) he may become top tier again after tomorrow because riot is doing some pretty big changes to the creeps and towers.

since you're just starting you should check out the following characters when you get a chance. they are the biggest nooblet friendly.

Tanks: Rammus, Shen, Malphite, Amumu, Sion

Magic Damage: Vlad, Annie, Sion

Jungler: Warwick, Rammus, Shen, Amumu

Physical Damage: Ashe, Tristana

Support: Janna, Taric
as a whole janna is the go-to for support. taric isnt always the most useful but janna is a perfect support in any teamcomp. she has a slow, a popup, gives a shield that provides AD, her ult is a 360 degree knockback as well as a heal. she is the ideal babysitter.

my bitching aside since the metagame is going to change a bit tomorrow i'll probably try taric out a little tomorrow. tower poking like back in july/august is going to be coming back most likely. which means taric will rise up in usefullness since he has his stun and heal. i'll try to do a few and tell you how they go. You can play him two routes. I still believe AP Taric is the only way to go. Your tank should be grabbing Aegis and the rest of the auras are kind of shit.

DPS Taric or Support Taric. Either way he's a phenomenal support if you do decide to go DPS. Build AP, lots of it. If you're going AP Taric consider investing in Survivability since you'll be running into the fray to pop your W. (Rylais/Rod/Zhonyas).

AP Taric is E > W > Q > R (Yes your ult is kind of shit early game, especially if you're going AP, you need those higher level nukes early on.)

Support Taric is E (For level 1 fights) But then R > Q > W > E

Core items should be: Rabadons/Rod of Ages or Banshees Veil (Grab an early Catalyst)

Core summoners: Ghost and Flash. Or Ghost/CV or Flash/CV if you want to get all fancy high ELO on those bitches.

Build: 0/9/21 (Support) or 9/0/21 (AP)

Start with a Mana Crystal or Dorans Ring. Build an Early Cata and rush Rabadons. From their pick your items accordingly to your play style.

If you're going Support, Taric is king in my honest opinion. He does amazing damage even if you're not building him DPS, gives an insane scaling heal spell which you can force shorter cooldowns by attacking, 2 second stun, Insane passive for laning and his ult is mediocre in team-fights. (It won't make or break but every bit helps)

Fuck Sona, Soraka, Janna. None of them hold a light to Taric. Maaaaybe Janna if their team is running Nunu and Kat or something.

To add in another extremely underestimated item for Taric, no matter what build you go:

Abyssal Scepter. AMAZING ITEM FOR HIM.

Shit is situational, regarding support champions. Janna is recognized as a better champion simply because there are more comps she meshes with. She's solid, all-around, while not being reliant on farm. There are a good number of comps, however, that Taric simply dominates in, but some he simply brings nothing to the table that Sona/Nidalee/Karma can't (and those champions can actually put out reliable and safe damage).
