    I've started this game a little over a week ago with irl friends and have come to enjoy it.

    Something I noticed though is how important a character feels to you regardless of how good they are compared to another. I've always liked support characters like Tonko which was why I started with Soraka. She does have her general weaknesses of bringing more to the table than some others like Janna etc but she was more enjoyable for me. Same deal when I started to play Lux after seeing videos on her. Kass is pretty easy (tho not support) and very powerful but I didn't seem to enjoy it much so I didn't buy him atm when his free week was over.

    I've tried to pick each type of champion and so far... not use to the terminology they use

    Tank: Shen (before I really learned just how op this guy is lol)
    Support(ish): Soraka, Lux
    Damage: Irelia (when she was free), looking at Jarvan next before if I decide to get Irelia, Tristana (free from the fb thing)

    I tend to be playing Shen and Lux the most because everyone seems to love being some form of damage dealer but at least this free week gives me the chance of being someone else since Maokai/Shen are free now.

    But anyway, just curious for opinion on the builds I do currently.

    Shen:
    Spoiler: show

    Doran's Shield --> Basic Boots + Health pots --> Heart of Gold --> Merc Treads --> Randuin's Omen/Force of Nature (based on enemy team) --> Warmog/Sunfire (/shrug)

    Lux:
    Spoiler: show

    Doran's Ring --> Hp Pots + Basic Boots --> Ionian Boots of Lucidity (or magic pent?) --> Rod of Ages --> Rabadon's Deathcap --> Archangel's Staff --> Rylai/Zhonya

    Soraka:
    Spoiler: show

    Doran's Ring --> Basic Boots --> Ionian Boots of Lucidity --> Morello's Evil Tome (yay for buff this patch) --> Rabadon's Deathcap

    Tristana:
    Spoiler: show

    Doran's Blade --> B.F Sword --> Pickaxe --> Basic Boots --> Infinite Edge --> Merc Treads --> Black Cleaver --> Zeal --> Phantom Dancer --> Bloodthirster

    Irelia:
    Spoiler: show

    Cloth Armor + 5 HP pots --> Heart of Gold --> Sheen --> Basic Boots --> Phage --> Merc Treads --> Trinity Force --> Infinite Edge --> Banshee's Veil

    Ew, don't ever get an IE on Irelia, go for a Guinsoo's Rageblade early on.

    Sounds solid. Tanks are generally easy to build and that order can be adjusted depending on who you are up against. You can also go cloth armor+5 pots and rush the heart or boots+3 if it's a magic heavy team and need to get a spirit visage or force early. I dislike warmogs on most tanks because health stacking just isn't really effective. There's better items.
    Lux:
    Spoiler: show

    Doran's Ring --> Hp Pots + Basic Boots --> Ionian Boots of Lucidity (or magic pent?) --> Rod of Ages --> Rabadon's Deathcap --> Archangel's Staff --> Rylai/Zhonya
    Lux (Going 2/7/21 for Strength of Spirit) can be built going sapphire crystal + 2 pots first. It's really hard to keep up with her retardedly high mana costs earlygame, and that helps. Using mana regen glyphs along with seals helps a ton, too.

    Sapph->Catalyst+Boots->Rabadon's->Whatever boots comp demands->RoA->Void Staff, Abyssal or DFG

    Soraka:
    Spoiler: show

    Doran's Ring --> Basic Boots --> Ionian Boots of Lucidity --> Morello's Evil Tome (yay for buff this patch) --> Rabadon's Deathcap
    Mana Manip -> Boots -> Soul Shroud -> Defensive based on enemy team. You can chill in team fights and fuck with the enemy team all game, dropping q; if they focus you, then your team is just going to win the fight, since you'll be so damn tanky.

    Tristana:
    Spoiler: show

    Doran's Blade --> B.F Sword --> Pickaxe --> Basic Boots --> Infinite Edge --> Merc Treads --> Black Cleaver --> Zeal --> Phantom Dancer --> Bloodthirster
    I like starting with a doran's shield as Trist as she has to get a little close to things to harass enemy champions in lane, until she's 6. As such, lifesteal is useful for team fights and continuing to stay in lane.

    Shield -> Boots+BF Sword (or boots +ward if you have to back early) -> Edge -> Vamp Scepter or Emblem -> Bloodthirster/Last Whisper/Cleaver
    Irelia:
    Spoiler: show

    Cloth Armor + 5 HP pots --> Heart of Gold --> Sheen --> Basic Boots --> Phage --> Merc Treads --> Trinity Force --> Infinite Edge --> Banshee's Veil
    Irelia should be built similar to Xin, but with her own little nuances, if you're looking for damage. (Tank built is just like any other tank). She has a rather high natural damage output and natural lanestay power, so you want to play off that.

    Cloth + 5 pots -> Boots + Wriggles -> Sheen -> Triforce -> Youmuu's -> Boots depending on comp (Cooldown, Treads and Tabi are all good) -> Survivability with health on it.

    You can also use a spirit visage instead of a youmuu's, if you feel you need more survivability.

    Nonono. Guinsoos on her is crap. But IE is bad also, I agree.

    Cloth Armor + 5 HP > Wriggles > Boots > Sheen > Merc Treads > Defensive Item > Trinity > Whatever the hell you want from this point since it's probably over.

    Seriously? Damn I'm so glad they're actually not sticking to the "price everything at good at 6300 ip" paradigm.

    Shen:

    Doran's Shield --> Basic Boots + Health pots --> Heart of Gold --> Merc Treads --> Randuin's Omen/Force of Nature (based on enemy team) --> Warmog/Sunfire (/shrug)

    That's fine. Solid build. Try an early Sunfires if you farm it fast enough.

    Lux:

    Doran's Ring --> Hp Pots + Basic Boots --> Ionian Boots of Lucidity (or magic pent?) --> Rod of Ages --> Rabadon's Deathcap --> Archangel's Staff --> Rylai/Zhonya

    Magic Pen always unless you're playing support which is stupid to begin with. Don't get Rod. Grab an early Cata if you want to play it safe or rush Rabadon's directly. Rylai's is sort of meh. Zhonyas/Banshees/Void Staff are good choices.

    Soraka:

    Doran's Ring --> Basic Boots --> Ionian Boots of Lucidity --> Morello's Evil Tome (yay for buff this patch) --> Rabadon's Deathcap

    I still say rush Rabadons. Grab an Abyssal Scepter/Banshees after for some decent survivability.

    Tristana:

    Doran's Blade --> B.F Sword --> Pickaxe --> Basic Boots --> Infinite Edge --> Merc Treads --> Black Cleaver --> Zeal --> Phantom Dancer --> Bloodthirster

    You got Trist down more or less. It should be IE > Upgrade Boots > Banshees > LW > Bloodthirster > GA or Cleaver. Phantom Dancer is meh considering your Q does increased Attack Speed.

    Lux:
    I do Sapph Crystal > Catalyst > Boots 1 > Rod of Ages (Sometimes Mejais is the game is going good) > Ionian Boots > Rabadons. Then you look at what the other team is doing, if they have MR you need to either get a Void Staff or Abyssal Scepter, if you need health get a Rylais, if you need mana get an Archangels, if you need to live get a Zhonyas (I almost never get this). I've never tried Morellos but I guess if you have someone who needs blue more you can use that to get cooldown capped (really important on her) but I would only do that if you have like an Anivia or something. Lich Bane is on the recomended items but I've never really seen a good lux use one nor have I really used one in a real game before, it does sound fun to melee people for 1000 damage though. There's also the normal defensive items you can get like Banshees but that's all situational.

    Oh and this is my Lux which runs Ghost/Clarity, if you want to run Ghost/CV you may want a mana item first? I don't know because I rarely ever run CV.

    Rod of ages is complete shit on Lux. But hey, who am I to talk, I never ever play her support.

    Dorans ring > Soul stealers > Sorc boots > Rush rabadons > Fill in the blank.

    Reasoning? I don't see how an item that adds considerable health/mana, is built out of an item you should probably get anyways, and adds as much AP as most of the non-deathcap AP items is complete shit.

    Basically because its expensive for a first game item. I dont know, the way I play, I can get stacks on soul stealers pretty quickly, rush rabadons, and get my defensive item.

    Rod of Ages as first item just screams that you can't survive early game. Just my opinion, but hey, its a game, everyone has their own builds.

    Oh if I go Mejais I generally skip Rod and go straight Cap too, but I tend to be wary of snowball items even on characters they are awesome for like Lux. Rod is pretty expensive but Catalyst is so nice for early laning and its an easy build from there.

    Catalyst is better spent going Banshees. That's why. Raba + Banshees is 100% more effective always compared to Raba/Rod or Rod/Banshees, etc.

    TRUNDLE IS AWESOMEE.. OHH YEAH.
    Seriously. He's so good. I mostly Jungle and I've yet to try him, wtf.

    Haha, Shame! You never ever see Trundle (least I never do with how sporadically I play), But I always hear that he is just killer in the jungle.

    I bought Gragas when he was on sale (At the cost of not being able to get the new champion.. And then we learned it really was Jarvan, ha! Pleased at his IP cost). Just now tried him... He was really fun in a custom game, haha. Had to keep reminding myself to use Drunken Rage at first, but... Man, Casks. Casks and bellyslams forever.

    Trundle is definitly the rarest character in my experience, I've fought a few but only one good one I can think of. It's kinda dumb how much MS they can get though, one I fought had over 600 MS with Ghostblade active.

    Theory behind RoA over Banshees:

    I'm a backline champion, I shouldn't be getting hit by stuff. If I am getting owned by people, my team isn't threatening enough to peel or I'm not using my ccs properly or we got initated on and a banshees isn't going to save me from having my shit pushed in, anyway.

    It's as simple as that; if you're not getting rocked by magic, banshee's is worthless. If melee's on you, the rod is going to be a stronger item due to health and extra ap toward her shield.

    You do not first item it, regardless. Catalyst is amazing and you convert it mid-late.

    No one ever said you grab Banshees first? I don't really understand who you're trying to argue with here.

    Banshees will always be better than Rod. That's almost 100% sure. Maybe against a Tryndamere Rod will do you a little better, but Banshees will win fights for you I can guarantee that.

    I think he got confused about the catalyst first. YOU HOLD CATALYST TIL LATE GAME TO GET BANSHEES.
