Philostone + Kindlegem. Hold onto these two items until late game, don't rush to turn it into reverie- milk the gold/10 for as long as needed.

Boots of Lucidity to get your CDs down to a decent %. You should have approximately 25-35% depending on masteries, no need to cap it out at 40%.

You may also invest in a heart of gold or another philostone for more g/10. Generally, if you can get two g/10 items within 10 minutes- do it, otherwise it's not really worth the investment.

Otherwise, build to counter whoevers getting fed on the enemy team. Alistar doesn't need to build full tank. I personally like getting Stark's Fervor on him.

Yeah. I love trolling games with the Tower Destruction build. If your team actually knows how to properly play along it just becomes so crazy.

So whenever I start the Launcher lately it just sits there "Retrieving Version Information" and never seems to finish.

It took me a few tries to get it working. Eventually I just went afk and came back 20 minutes later to find it loaded and working. /shrug

Played alistar on my smurf with my roommate who started somewhat recently. Goddamn he is fun, I may have to get him on my main.

I just started playing yesterday and I'm having trouble finding a hero that fits my style; if any of you ever played WC3 Tides of Blood, Warden, Leto, and Sashi were my favorites. So basically a fast assassin hero. I was looking through the hero list and saw Shaco, he any good? Any suggestions?

Shaco isn't really "newbie" friendly.
Out of the current free roster, Lee Sin would probly be the closest.
The best fast assassin imo is Akali, can be pretty difficult to play well though.

I don't know WC3 but if you're looking for assassins Shaco's pretty good. Nocturne is good as well but he is expensive to get. I'd also look at Akali and Evelynn.

You can also do searches looking for other assassins or other types.

New rotation I started playing MF again since I haven't played her since becoming new to LoL. There was some serious ownage. First game straight up raped. Second game we were losing very badly. Score was 1-13 in the first 15 minutes. Had a feeding Yi and Avi? (Forget her name, frost pheonix) and they kept trying to pass the forfeit vote. I kept denying due to doing fine with my 1 kill and no deaths and not having time to play another game anyway. Ended up carrying the shit out of that game and we won. Success story up in this.

Aye, I would avoid Shaco until you have a lot of games under your belt. He really seems to be a guy that gives a lot of people problems just with how all out you MUST play with him (Especially if jungling. Little room for error it appears).
Aaaat least play for a little while to see how things go, read a few guides and watch a few videos on everyone. I always like to read and see how people play their characters, and even then watch them in action if possible.

Akali, like previously suggested, is a very good assassin/burst girl too. She can quickly close the gap with Shadow Dance (A sliding teleport), has a shroud to conceal you for a few seconds, and a detonating mark. Leesin is also free, give him a shot!

How much effectiveness do I lose by not having masteries/runes (in the vid it mentioned using those to proc the latent earlier) or is that not something I need to worry about yet?
