No shit?
No shit?
k, then ignore gogo
Why do people feel so indignant when ryko tells them off. You would think they would at least shrug it off as lol internet.
When it's consistent it gets pretty annoying.
If you mean me, that is!
Sigh.
Thank you, now...
Note that despite it all, it STILL DOES NOT STATE ANYWHERE THAT PUERTO RICAN WOULD BE ACCEPTED AS A RACE.
Mother fucker should have looked in the mirror, grabbed a color scale and just fucking checked one. All that you're establishing is that you, as a dumb human being, socialize with other dumb human beings. So he check marked "other" and listed his race as Puerto Rican.
idc that people are only arguing over puerto rican being a race which anyone who isn't retarded knows it isn't.
I am here to say hispanic isn't a race. It is an origin. Your country was once walked on by spanish people and now you mostly speak spanish. Congratulations you are now hispanic, not a race though.
Example A

Man on the left is Puerto Rican, speaks spanish and is considered hispanic.
Man on the right is Dominican, speaks spanish and is considered hispanic.
Are they the same race?
My dictionary says Hispanic is "used to denote the culture and people of countries formerly ruled by Spain"
So Indians are White cause they were once ruled by britain?
Actually not white I mean their race is British?
Learn what a race is thanks. Puerto Rican is not a race. Hispanic is not a race.

So you're not exactly right on that one either. It's more along what Trinsie is say where even if there is a demand to put it as a race, scientifically it doesn't work.Census officials say they're simply adhering to race-category standards laid out for all federal agencies in 1997 by the White House Office of Management and Budget, criteria they confirm will be re-evaluated before the 2020 census. (The Census that year will also be unlikely to retain Negro as a designation for African Americans; it is still on the 2010 form, a fact that has led to repeated apologies from the Census chief.) And Janet Murguia, president of the National Council of La Raza, a Hispanic advocacy group in Washington, D.C., says the Hispanic race question so far "has been hard to reconcile scientifically."
Scientifically, the entire concept of race is absurd.
tbh I agree actually. But it is what it is. And what a race is supposed to be deals with physically characteristics, not cultural characteristics. As Trinsie said there is really no similarities between Hispanics physically (besides the obvious things we all share). But Hispanics have become so large that I can easily see both sides of the argument. I wouldn't care one way or the other if they do list it as a race in the future. But the point of the thread was that saying Puerto Rican is a race is retarded.
Culture is also an integral aspect of the concept of race. In other words, acting white or acting black.
For example, Jews and the Irish weren't considered white.
I have to look up the Irish thing because while I remember in the US the Irish had to deal with a lot of shit when they immigrated, but I don't remember that being a race issue so much as being similar to the current "Mexicans are taking our jerbs!" type of thing.
As to the Jews, they were considered lesser beings because of their faith. And the Jews originate from the Middle East so they wouldn't be considered white anyways. I will research this more as well.
