Models etc look great. But the final touch is not there. It looks plain and dull. It needs some kind of filters. Looks kinda wierd atm. And the same as back on GamesCom (got to try it there with some friends). But.. you can't judge just yet. It's nice too see some footage though.
Final build will probably be better, some effects/filters etc. can do alot.

I think the way the taru is running in the beginning looks retarded. Also found the game to be a bit bland looking, not very lush colors, kind of washed out.

I would assume it would go without being said that a video taken from the alpha version of a game would, indeed, feature alpha graphics, and not represent a finished product.

looks good. but somehow blantly, empty, interaction-less. those things won't change to the released game. you'll see. and i'm saving this posting so that i can pwn you later this year! that pre-set lighting (not real time) just makes the athmosphere drop a lot. just like in FFXI where there are now shadow nuances under trees etc

Only alpha that I've played that looks like the final product was ragnarok online and subspace i think... back in the 1990's which was mostly 2D graphics

People that got their hopes up that have been summarily crushed; people wasting their fingers trying to refute other's opinions on an alpha vid; its comical to watch - like some B-grade horror movie that you know is going to be corny and predictable, yet is still entertaining in its absurdity.

Okay, maybe the graphics aren't that good, but it's a lot better than any other MMO that exists.

Remember that MMOs generally aren't designed with "pushing the envelope" graphically in mind. MMOs are designed to be played by a large number of people for large periods of time, which means that compatibility and reliability is more important than visual ejaculation.

Plus, Alpha etc., and it's still leagues ahead of any other MMO graphics that I've seen.

well, I never played Aion. I have played AoC and Warhammer. Watching a lot of footage of Aion I can say the design of the world is nice and I am sure it is immersive when playing but objectively the textures are nothing special and geometry is again nothing special at all

I'm more impressed with FFXIV. looking at Aion 2:34 mark vs FFXIV 1:11 mark, FFXIV wins in my opinion even though Aion is a direct screen capture and FFXIV is a HDTV being shot with a video camera.

if beta and retail have improved graphics, great! doesn't make people's opinion on it so far invalid, especially since most of us complaining worry that the graphics won't improve much anyway

one thing I really dont like in these videos we have seen so far is the poor transition between things such as water and stone ... (~3:20)

Obviously the game will look better in the cinematics, but i still wish it could look like it does in the scene with the choco and the waterfalls (end)

because as it has been stated like 10 times in this thread NO ALPHA has good graphics, so bitching is pointless, and it's rather sad that people are disappointed by them.

Hell in comparisions to other game alphas the graphics are fucking awesome.

Everything in the the little video looks very good to me, i don't know what everyone is going on about but if it stayed exactly the same in the final version i'd still be happy but it will be alot better. Imagine your high end gaming rig with all the settings on extremely high, your wildest imagination shouldn't dissapoint you.
