Amp/dac vs amp + dac (separately)

I was either going to get the $100 uDac for my laptop and a $100ish amp to use with both my laptop and my Ipod or I was going to get a $170-200 Amp/dac in one.

I'm not too familiar with these things so I was wondering the advantages and disadvantages of getting them two in one and wanted to know if it'd be better to get a two in one or to go with them separately. Or would the two in one function just as well as each individual and I just save money by buying them together?

Anyone? i can't seem to find help w/ this anywhere. Not even getting any responses over @ head-fi forums.

I don't really want to have to randomly choose a product, but it seems it'll end up that way, as I am unable to find advice.

Get a real amp, listen to your music on an external device.
