Previously-Reported Villain For The Avengers Appearing After All; Possible Plot Details Revealed

While we still don't know the names of mysterious aliens in Joss Whedon and Marvel's The Avengers, here is something that confirms the "other" villain, plus some new info on what happens in the film. SPOILER WARNING!
I have to say, I wasn't sure whether or not to post this because of two reasons. First one is that this is something Marvel & Disney probably won't reveal in their marketing (posters, trailers, TV spots, etc...) and the second reason is that this will be a big surprise for the fans when they see the film. Having said that, I decided to post it because this is not something we haven't heard before. Those who read a report a while back about a certain villain in The Avengers, won't mind this, but if you don't want to know what happens in the film, please don't read anything below!

Marvel‘s rather revolutionary roll of the dice on their big screen movie adaptations has found them creating a giant universe of connected films, where superheroes and characters cross-pollinate the films that are part of a singular fabric. In order to make this happen, the comic and movie studio giant has become known for signing up key players with contracts for multiple films—Samuel L. Jackson famously has nine movies he’s obliged to appear in—allowing for lots of Easter eggs and surprise cameos. But while Jackson is A consistent presence in the Marvel world, and fans buzzed when Robert Downey Jr. made a brief appearance as Tony Stark in “The Incredible Hulk,” don’t expect to see Chris Evans logging time in anything but “Captain America” or “The Avengers” movies.

We recently caught up with the actor who is current promoting “Puncture,” a gritty legal drama that is a far cry from his turn as Steve Rogers, and he revealed that his contract with Marvel gives them little room to utilize him in pop-up appearances in anything outside of the two est@blished franchises he’s part of already.

Confirming that he’s signed for three “Captain America“ entries and three “Avengers” films, Evans told us, “They may wait until 2014 until they release the next Cap. Marvel has a lot of balls in the air, they aren’t going to cannibalize their films.” And it could be very expensive for Marvel if Cap shows up in a non-Cap movie. “Out of those six films, if I pop up in one of those [other films], it counts as part of the deal. So if they needed me in a third Cap, and I say, ‘!! you, give me $30 million,’ well…they want to avoid that.”

The potential date for the inevitable sequel isn’t too much of a surprise. With the star-studded “The Avengers” anchoring 2012, and “Thor 2” and “Iron Man 3” set for 2013 bows, many speculated that “Captain America 2” would be one of the films that would occupy the recently announced dates of May 16, 2014 and June 27, 2014 that Marvel has pegged for yet-to-be-confirmed projects.

As for now, Evans is busy with “The Avengers” and with shooting taking place on the streets of New York City and Cleveland, there have been a plethora of set photos hitting the web, with many geeks scrutinizing the look of Cap’s contemporary new costume. “You always look so horrible in those pictures,” Evans sighed. “I just stopped looking at them. There’s no way to look good in those photos.”

But he does say that the new Captain America costume owes quite a bit to writer-director Joss Whedon. “The first one was a 1940s look, very utilitarian, something that would serve a purpose on the battlefield,” says Evans. “But in ‘The Avengers,’ Joss just had a certain vision in his mind about what he wanted Cap to look like. That’s what he wanted to see. It’s so nice working on these movies and the director’s a fan. He’s the dude at Comic-Con that we’re terrified of pissing off. If Joss is happy, I’m happy.”

As for plot details, “The Avengers” remains without an official synopsis, and while Evans couldn’t provide one, he did clarify that the photo leaks were of actual content in the film, and not being shot for a special trailer, or even as purposeful subterfuge to throw off obsessive geeks. “All the pieces you can find on the internet are action pieces,” Evans says, referring to snapshots of alien weapons and massive property damage. “But nothing out there [as far as photos] is like, ‘That’ll fool ‘em!’ ”

You can catch Evans this weekend in “Puncture” when it opens on Friday, September 23rd and he’ll next be suiting up in “The Avengers” which opens on May 4, 2012.

Marvel Studios and Disney have issued a press release regarding their presence at this year's New York Comic Con where lucky attendees will see new footage from Joss Whedon's The Avengers. Check it out!

New York Comic Con (NYCC) is proud to announce Marvel Studios, for the first time ever, will participate in this October's NYCC. Marvel Studios will present a special event in NYCC's <redacted> Theater - Presented by Sprint on Saturday, ctober 15th from 6:30-7:30 PM, a high-profile panel focused on the upcoming feature film Marvel's The Avengers. Also, Im lazy but official photos got posted on Marvels website and a ton of other places.

so take I take it never happened as it was rumoured? new teaser trailer with Real Steel? I read it was happening then some Disney/Marvel exec denied. then I read domestically no new trailer but oversea peeps did get a new trailer with the Real Steel movie. meh either way I save 11$ and I can wait till Tuesday
