No previews for when I watched it, just the opening marvel scroll then it started.

For us the theater lights stayed up through the previews and into the movie itself; the audio cut out for ~60 seconds during the intro dialogue.

    nitpick
    Spoiler: show
wouldn't the Hulk smacking the Black Widow shatter every bone in her body?

Really enjoyed it though, usually superhero movies are underwhelming.

Meh. It's a super hero movie, they're obviously going to take liberties with what's realistic and what's not lol.

    Spoiler: show
When Fury fires his rocket launcher at the jet to stop the nuke, was that first plane just a decoy for the 2nd or what? If not it's a good thing he didn't set off the first lol

Personally, I imagine the World Security Council wouldn't just deploy one plane, because Fury had made it quite clear at that point he was ignoring their "stupid-ass orders."

I've decided that this movie has earned my money twice. Can't wait to get out there and see it a second time in theaters.

Just got home from the movie, and it was fucking awesome. My daughter wore a Thor helmet the whole time. She loved it too, she wanted the spend the night in the theater and just watch it over and over.

I also wore the Thor hat too LOL

How good were Thor and Captain America compared to this? I saw the Iron Mans at least.

Thor was decent. Captain America was meh. Both fun movies to watch, but don't come anywhere close to this one.

I was gonna see it a third time today, but my kid had other plans. I'll probably go again next week sometime.

Moss, personally I'd rank the movies Avengers > Iron Man > Captain America > Thor > Iron Man 2 > The Incredible Hulk (Norton version). They're all good IMO though.

I have to point out to you - as a matter of principle, you understand - that he couldn't have set off a nuke with the rocket launcher anyway. Assuming it was a more modern fusion bomb to begin with (what with all the high techery) that rocket launcher stood absolutely no chance to do anything besides spread contaminants all over the flight deck.

The movie was definitely good. If I find the time I probably will go back to watch it again, but real life is keeping me busy.

I'd have to agree with that list, except set Thor = IM2.

Are you married to Elizabeth Shue!?

edit: For my breakdown of the Marvel Movies so far:

    Iron Man:
The first Iron Man was the best to me because it was gritty and true to the character and gave it a very realistic feel.. the story wasn't too over the top.

    Hulk:
Despite the fact that Norton made the movie watchable and I did like it, I have to admit I only watched it for the Iron Man after credits scene. Way better than the first Hulk they made.

    Iron Man 2:
I loved this one, just not as much as the first. I think most of it was soured by the replacement of Terrence as Rhodes (I hate replacing actors) but it wasn't as gritty as the first.

    Thor:
Oh man, this is the corniest of all of them because it's out of place (being that he's an alien and all) but I still liked it just as much as IM2.

    Captain America:
Still my favorite Avenger; still one of my favorites of the Marvel series because it captures the era perfectly. Only gripe was the plane at the end and no explanation of why he downed it instead of turning it around.

    Avengers:
    Spoiler: show

Hulk flinging Loki around like a ragdoll stole the fucking show. Everything about Hulk and Banner in this movie is what the first movie should have been - I think Ruffalo played a perfect Bruce even though they changed from Norton. I really don't think Norton would have worked, chemistry-wise, the same way. There were only two problems I had - the first was the reintroduction of Thor (where he randomly appears and they explain it away with Dark Energy instead of Jane bringing him back) and the second was the death of Coulson. Hands down Whedon did a great job in directing the cast and I love that no single character came out better than the others. This is something that plagued the X-Men films after the first - it started focusing on Wolverine too much and Halle Berry started demanding too much Storm screen time. The fact that this cast doesn't seem to have an ego interfering with making the movie makes it even more appealing. Finally, the end scene where they're all sitting down just eating food was fucking classic.
