The HuffPo article I read about the Avengers box office record did acknowledge the ticket sales, but stated that if you counted tickets and ignored dollars, Avengers still beat out Harry Potter #8 by 3-4 million ticket sales last weekend.

It's an undisputed record that was set. Very cool stuff.

I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, and I'm already psyched about all of the news on future movie options that the actors have signed on to. I would love to see a theater-styled continuity story that works like the comics and crossovers do. That would be phenominal if done right, and the movies up to now show promise.

Avengers 2 is the Infinity Gauntlet storyline, but on Earth. By this point, you would have a few other heroes known about to really make Thanos seem that much bigger. You could even have the Guardians of the Galaxy come and combine to kill them all.
For GotG movie, I would do the Annihilation: Conquest storyline where Ultron takes over the Phalanx. Ultron can be previously established in the Ant-Man movie. It would result in the resurrection of Thanos too.

Yeah it was about 25 million ticket sales or so. What's interesting is that there are a lot of people who saw it a second and third time whereas with Potter, I don't know of anyone that saw it a second time during opening weekend.

I liked the first Xmen movie and X2 (especially Nightcrawler), but First Class blows them both away in my opinion. The cast was great (aside from January Jones), the story was good and it was just an enjoyable flick. I kinda wish Marvel could get the rights to the Xmen though, so we can see Wolverine and Beast join up with the Avengers like they have in the comics.

There's a reason for that actually. The Pentagon denied access to the military because they felt that the Avengers was too unrealistic. They didn't like the fact that SHIELD doesn't answer to the U.S. Government and therefore shouldn't have access to its technology.

Anyways, Warlock is a big part of Thanos's mythos (or vice versa), but not indispensable. They could do a sequel without featuring Warlock, though I wouldn't complain if they included him.
