I see your point, but it doesn't really invalidate Odin'sLaw, in that the change of a character's race often raises eyebrows and can hurt sales. Indeed, Idris Elba's casting as Heimdall drew a notable amount of protest over Thor.

Jackson as Nick Fury (and before that, Michael Clarke Duncan as The Kingpin), seem to be exceptions, as it seems they were received pretty well.

There's also the fact that Catwoman is the one and only star of the movie Catwoman. Where as Avengers had 10 other people who were cast perfectly, right next to fury.

This is of course ignoring the fact that ultimate fury was around for years before the movies, and was actually based off of Jackson, making him the perfect casting anyway lol.

i have no problem with halle she is a pretty decent actress besides a few films (mostly cat woman) Jackson is the mother fucking king of movies he can play any bad ass mother fucker in any piss poor film and still make money for it! that and pulp fiction is my 2nd fav film >.>

Not only did Fury go black in the comics, as pointed out above, but when Marvel was redesigning him, they actually asked Sam Jackson if they could base the new Fury on his likeness and he agreed.

Sam Jackson *literally* is Nick Fury, in both the comics and the movies.

Up until now, he has been.

To catch you up, Marvel released the "Ultimate" titles. Versions of flagship Marvel titles sort of re-created to catch a younger audience. Among these was "Ultimate Avengers, in which Fury was a black man based off Sam L. Jackson.

These titles existed alongside the usual Marvel titles (dubbed the "616 universe

, albeit in a different "Universe." That way, there was something for a for new and casual audiences, while maintaining the stories and titles longtime fans were used to. Recently, Marvel has decided to synchronize the 616 universe with the films, which will lead to white Nick Fury being replaced by his illegitimate black son.

i never read the comics but i only saw nick fury in that one season of spider man as a kid and i'm sure he looked like mr fantastic from the fantastic four (with an eye patch of course)
